E93 fog lamp upgrade to LED
I have a 2007-335i convertible, I was interested in upgrading the fog lamps, all information I see references a H8 bulb, I found an LED upgrade, 2 bulbs for 55.00 has anyone upgraded their fog lamps?
the site I found also mentions that some cars like BMW might need an error code corrector thing, Thoughts????? thanks Hondo |

Agreed with Pasa why bother since you already have xenon headlight and LED foglight is not going to help much when you turn them on at night.

he's probably doin the LED conversion for aesthetics purposes and doesn't care about functionality...
regarding the error code corrector, most probably a way for them to cover their a$$es, i know many people who did the conversion with no trouble at all (check with the site sponsors for good deals and extended warranty)

I already converted my angel eyes to LED and now the fog lamps look yellow, any yes mainly for aesthetics, but also sometimes I do run my fog lamps with only the parking lamps on, and the other reason why,,,, is because I can!

Just one: Why? They don't do much other'n annoy oncoming traffic. Not BMW's greatest achievement. |

Again, they look yellow,
and if they annoy on coming traffic, then thats a bonus, that means they will see me! and less chance of someone pulling out in front of me, so never thought it is a great safety measure and back to the original question!!!!!!! Has anyone upgraded their fog lamps, either LED or the superwhite Hondo |

Why would fog light annoy oncoming traffic? They are low down on the bottom, aren't they?
Yes yellow is better for fog due to light wavelength but white would still works fine when it's low in position. people need to drive slower regardless in thick fog anyway. |

But I'm sure just you're HID headlights are annoying enough. But back to seriousness. I don't think I would go with LED for your foglights. I have seen HID kits for them which I believe would definitely help out the stock system greatly in brightness.http://www.hidnation.com/h8hidkits.html The only issue with this is the canceller cables and battery relay, due to the fact that our batteries are in our trunks. But good luck. |

Hmm. I always thought yellow was better because it could be brighter and contrasted fog and snow. But it's good to know that my rally yellow overlays just look good. Ha

Ok guys, My intentions for replacement fog lamps is first to get a whiter light and not the yellowish light, and I want a plug and play type replacement, I want to do No rewiring, no HID lamps, and second I never brought up trying to annoy on coming traffic someone else made that comment, I dont have the attitude, just looking for an H8 bulb replacement, Thats all

what if where the OP lives there is no fog?
![]() where i am, fog lights are used only for show, we have no fog whatsoever so we don't need it for visibility. hence why many are opting for the LED conversion which makes the car looks alot better with all bright lights instead of Xenon for headlights and halogen for fog lights.

I am going out on the limb and ordered ones from eBay for my AE (not known dealers yet), the claims says 4x 5W Cree LED on each bulb (20W), a pair for $80 shipped. Will see how it looks. Suppose to be plug-n-play. Also from the picture they look likes ICE-lite, though probably not as finely built but for less than half the price I am game for now. |

Replaced mine last week with PIAA H8, Intense White. Nice color match to the headlights and puts out more light. I'm very satisfied.

I know 2007 vs 2010 may have differences, but two comments:
Traditionally (IIRC), "fog light" and "driving light" beam patterns are very different. Fog lights are low and wide, used with low beams. Driving lights aim into the distance and are used to supplement high beams. http://www.rallylights.com/hella/Beams.aspx My 2010 E93 manual references "fog lights". I don't know about the 2007 manual. |
