Looks great, but the difference is so subtle no one would ever notice.

Looks really good - that's one of the changes I've considered for mine. Its a small change but it can really change the front-end look.

I threw away the receipt without even looking that close. I think it was about $80 for each side and they (dealer) charged $40 to install. I could have maybe tried to put it in myself, but I've read a few stories about guys having to really crank to get them out so I didn't want to risk possibly breaking something.

Where the stock 535 grilles are chrome on the leading edge of the slat and matte black on the sides, the M5's are gloss black / matte black.
In pictures, the gloss black makes them look much like the stock 535 grilles due to the reflection. In person, it looks much different. On my pic here, you can see it a little better. There are still reflections, though. ![]() Stock Grille:

Looks OK, but if you have no other chrome on your car I'd go with the OEM all black.

Even with no other chrome, I do not like the all black look. To me, it looks like the grilles are missing.

The M5 grille works on darker cars.
This horse also likes and respects the look of all black grilles. It looks all business and reminds me of decaf coffee. For lighter color F10s, I was wondering how the 535i grille would look with the chrome ring blacked out. |

Has anyone with an M5 changed their grills to the 535 ones? lol

And I don't know if anyone noticed.. But the 'M5' grills are simply regular F30 grills

The F10 M5 grille style is the same style (chrome outer ring and black slats) that BMW has used on their 3-series (and others) since their first generation E21 in 1975. It looked more standard and similar to today starting with the E36 in 1990, and of course with the E46 starting in 1998. To me the F10 M5 grille is a much more common traditional look. It still looks good on our F10 Btw, the only reason I know these details is from looking at Wikipedia. Lol. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_3_Series

I think IF it weren't the standard grille on the F10, the standard F10 grille would be the more "Interesting" of the two, since the M5 grille as you've basically pointed out can make it easier for one to mistake a 5 for a 3 from the front (though unlikely I guess as the general designs are very different). BigDeep: I'm pretty sure they aren't the *exact* same grilles, i.e the shapes and sizes are different, though I think he meant the color scheming is the same.

Everyone goes black & I go chrome. I put a set of 550 grills on.
