525i Drivers side window unidentifiable part.
Hellow BMW fans! I'm hoping some of you can identify a part that i have that's not letting my window function properly. It seems to be off track, and hangs in the door a little sideways. The window switch works, and the motor inside the door will pull the window down and push it up, but it's so off track i don't use it. I'm worried it'll hurt something further so i rolled it up as far as it would go and pushed it into place by hand. It stays there just fine but it sucks i cannot use the window!
Everything was working fine until i heard a "thud" inside the door one day while driving. I pulled off the drivers side door panel (with some TLC) and found this little guy just chillin' in the bottom of my door. I'm not sure where it goes or what it does but it seems to have a TON of glue on it which tells me somebody who owned this car before didn't care that much! I need to know where it goes, that's my problem holding me back from completing this task. I have searched a few different forums, and had a hell of a time trying to find anything regarding my problem. Just window regulator issues that i don't seem to have any troubles with.....yet. Heres a photo of the mysterious peice! ![]()

If I'm not mistaken that's part of the guide track your glass rides on . The glue is for the felt that makes the window slide smooth . It has one in the back and one in the front part of the door . How is your door hinge on the door look ? I may be wrong but someone else will chime in to help .

I agree it looks like the window support mechinism. Could it be part of the track the 'scissor' arms run on? Glue could be from PO efforts at installation. Looks wrong profile for the part the glass runs in. Once located it should be an easy refit (with new fasteners!).

I would suggest first checking realoem.com for the parts. If that doesn't make it clear, you could remove the panel to the opposing door and see where the part is in there.

may also have a 7 digit BMW part number on it which you can plug into that site, otherwise find it the 'hard' way

Seond look at the pix and one can see the marks from the nylon wheel on the scissor arm.

That channel is adhered to the window glass at the bottom, either the front or back section, reason for glue. If you look at the glass you will see glue residue and probably the location of the bracket.
