Possibility of 650hp+ 535?

I have a 525i, which is my cruiser and a 335i which is my rocketship. What is the likelyhood that some of these companies coming out with single turbo kits for the N54 will make one that fits on the E60 chassis? What about getting a kit and fixing it up myself to fit on a 535i? What I'm asking is what is the possibility of having a 600-700hp 535i? Why you might ask? Why not? I personally like driving the 335 and burning people that think they have faster cars because they paid more or they have "american muscle" blah blah. I think having a non m5 e60 that could burn a real E60 M5 would be worth it in itself. I'm also about to quit my current job for a job that pays a lot more, has shorter work days and almost double the amount of paid vacation that I have now. I'll also be home for more then a year at a time, so I need to find a hobby.

The red line is a single turbo. The others are upgraded twin turbos from RB.

I'm watching the progress of Vishnu and their single turbo conversion. I'm sure it's possible to do the same to the E60, but it is a heavier car.
You should see their runs at the strip launching in second gear. The 335i coupe is the modern day Supra. Would be a nice car to toy around with some day soon.

Same exact engine in the 535, but it does weigh a little more. This will slow down launches compared to the 1 and 3 series.
What's nice about the twin scroll single turbo is that power keeps building right up to redline, similar to an M5 but more powerful. It sounds like a friggin jet engine taking off. There are clips on Youtube.

RB turbos are cheaper and based on the stock assemblies. You trade in your existing and they send you the larger ones. They add about 100 hp. Fully modded with tune, downpipes, FMIC, meth etc, that's how you see 500 hp to the wheels. Add around 20% to get BHP at the crank. Cost is $3,200 plus another grand for installation.
I heard the single is more expensive but haven't seen numbers. I have plenty power for my needs.

Look at about 6 minute mark:

RBs

yep, even with Cobb it's plenty of power considering all counties/cities use traffic infactions as source of income, now. Can you spell SPEED-TRAP

when I mingled with Audi bunch, a few people ran T28 big single turbo on 1.8T, that thing lag quite a bit but once spooling watch out. Porsche always goes with two, one small one bigger turbos, I heard the new M3 may use one twin scroll (ala the one in N55) then one bigger one for a total of 3-turbines (2 shells). but no one knows what the exact configuration until probably release date. For daily you want to compromise lag vs top-speed, for track who cares when you most likely keep the turbos spooling above 3000-rpm anyway.

This is the video that got me:

If the drivetrain holds up to that kind of abuse launch after launch, its a winner.

Get used to the concept of small bore engines with sophisticated turbo designs.
It's how car makers meet new emission standards and MPG requirements. The turbos kick in on acceleration, then shut off during steady cruising speed.
Those big thirsty 5L V8s are a dying breed. For that reason 550 owners should take good care of their cars and hang on to them. In 5 years they will be a rarity and possibly sought after.

Needs to launch in 2nd gear.

No sarcasm, just reality. My previous car was an E39 540 sport with V8. I am no enemy of V8s by any stretch. It's just that the world is changing.

Yep, I don't think they were gunning for times there though. I think they were trying to break the car, or find a weak spot. They drove that car to Vegas, to Bimmerfest in LA and use it daily.
It was on display at the fest. There's another video of them driving it to the fest.

I figured it would be doable, guess I just have to do some calling around and shoot some emails out to see what kind of work/price I'm looking at. Maybe I can send the car off to someone while I'm gone for work and it could be like a research and development thing.

Yes, the V8 is dying. I was talking to my dad about this because he is a Jag guy and asked me what BMW is doing to meet the emissions demands. Jag is going the other way, they're going to smaller V6 motors and I think they're super charging them. Where as Bmw is going turbo V8. I think this will be his selling point when he goes to get a new car.

Here are some costs:

JB4 tune $480 or Procede from Vishnu $700
Dual cone intake $95
FMIC (ER, Helix, Cp-e) $900
Charge pipe with meth bung $280
Meth kit $450
3" downpipes, AR Design $1,000

Single turbo $4,000 or RB twin turbos $3,200.

Sum total you are looking at min. $6,500 plus installation, but the car will have twice the power.

I don't know about the installation cost. I'm pretty good with mechanical things, never worked on turbos on imports, only turbo diesels such as cummins, powerstroke and duramax. I can't imagine it would be that much different but at the same time I know how picky these cars can be. Looks like I might be picking up a 535 this weekend. I've been on the car search for months, I've just been really stuck on weather I wanted a 135, 335 coupe, 535 or a 550. Looks like I finally made up my mind.

Can the bottom end handle that much power in these? I'm not that familiar with what they're made of in these cars

Eventually you'll need to be able to get more fuel in as well, i.e. fuel pump, injectors, regulator, the list keeps growing the higher you get

I think we are a while away from a 650hp 535. The 335 single turbos are impressive but there's not enough real world owner comments feedback log or track runs for me to totally believe, and even with that kit there's some underlying supporting mods , fuel pump a bunch of meth nozzles. And one hasn't been fit in a 535, there are differences .

Auto trans limits have been reach with the current turbo upgrades available so get a MT.

You need a Walbro LPFP upgrade. Runs $185. Also a Tmap sensor upgrade. Injectors and HPFP is fine otherwise.
So far i haven't heard of busted auto trannies, but Level 10 sells a kit that strengthens it to 700 hp.
