Brighter Lights

My wife and I just got a new X1 this afternoon to replace an aging 330xi. Unfortunately we weren't able to locate a model with the lighting package and I miss the xenon lights already from my 330. Is it possible to swap out the incandescent with something brighter?

Nothing that's really worth while. You could possibly try the silverstar hype bulbs but don't expect much. Adding xenon after is very complicated and very expensive and really not realistic.

Can go after market xenon kit using the same light system just xenon bulbs and ballasts about $200-$300
Canbus after market xenon is pretty good

There's been a lot of talk in the past about putting xenon in non height adjusting headlights, I'd recommend you read around first before just adding ballasts.

Xenons without the shade are trouble for other motorists...BAD idea.

The shade feature is a mute point, it won't help at all unless every last road you drove on doesn't change in elevation more than a very small amount like 2" in 1000'.

It's also now illegal in the US to have HID/xenon on any car without the auto leveling feature. Many HID kits sold are illegal to use on a public roads and some cities police will ticket you and require you to replace them with factory headlights if they don't auto level. It's also very easy to spot which lights auto level and which don't.

USDOT may say not legal but it's up to states to enforce laws. Some states don't care. I see a fair amount of cars with uncontrolled aftermarket Xenons blinding the crap out of everyone. Not so moot when plenty of drivers break the law and few cops are willing to enforce. Sucks
