Just bought x1 tonight

after pacing for about 2 weeks trying to decide, i broke down and bought a mineral grey xdrive28i, with the coral leather,M package,utlimate package and thats about it. Since, i dont plan on driving in ALOT of snow, but do plan on driving it almost daily, tomorrow i have a set of cont xtreme dsw's going on replacing the summer p7 run flats. Some might question why i went with the M if i didnt want summers, but i love the appearance package on the M package. After i drove it home,the wife and i went out to get dinner, so she decided to drive back home, when we got it, the radio station was changed, and the climate control was cranked, and it was in celcius? and the side mirrors moved,weird...but otherwise,its a pretty sweet little ride

Comfort access option? Each key fob cab be associated with a profile in iDrive, so be wary if you swap fobs and mess with each others profiles.

Start rifling through the manual! You have a lot of reading to do.

Your right about the reading part, it's crazy all the tech that is in this car! When my salesman was going over everything I felt like I was being prepped for a S.A.T!!!!!

That was the great thing about taking delivery at the PDC. Our advisor was extremely knowledgeable about the car and took an uninterrupted two hours with us going over EVERYTHING. Salesman just don't have the time or the real knowledge of these systems.

LOTS of reading to do! I was really surprised at the technical electronics, I just haven't had time to read it all either. I was just happy to find the button to unlock the doors from the inside

I couldn't find the unlock button either - I was inside with the passenger doors locked and the CA was outside trying to explain where the button was. I was looking at the door panel and couldn't find it at all. Meanwhile he is standing out there in the 89 degree So Cal sun.

Anyways, back to the manual......my brother is at me!!! Keeps saying that his 2003 330i is a REAL car that doesn't need an instruction manual to operate. I think he is jealous!

Can you post some pics of rh coral red interior with the mineral grey. i am about to order one with white and red interior and though the bmwusa site makes it look awesome i just want to confirm.

Congrats! Nothing wrong with DWS's. There's a good chance I'll be doing exactly the same in the spring. The Potenza 970AS probably offers a little better performance than the Contis, but at the cost of wear and ride comfort.

I'm not that fond of all the tech going into the cars nowadays. People think they can rely on rear view cameras and blind spot warning systems when so equipped. I don't want the car driving me...but that's where we seem to be headed [/soapbox]

I thought I was alone. Some of the technology is definitely more trouble than it's worth. As I write this, my car is sitting in the shop for the third time because of ongoing electronic issues (and one mechanical problem). There is something to be said for simplicity.

The coral red definitely looks deeper and richer in person. Cameras have a habit of picking up more pink light so most of the pictures I have seen do skew it towards day glow pink. Here's my M-Sport LeMans Blue with the red interior.

Thanks Wolfex. agree with your observation. I am going with Alpine white and coral red interior. well technically its my wife car, but i get to do most of the choosing . fortunately in this case she loved that combo too.
Placed my order today for ED in April. its funny how time is now going very slowly.

White and Coral Red look great together. My wife wanted Mineral White but my parents have that in their 328i and I didn't want to match.

Sharon and DeeDee, did you know you can unlock the doors from the inside without pressing the unlock button? Yes you can, when the doors are locked, use the handle to try to open as usual, it won't open the first time, but do it again and voila! Had a two hour tutorial when I took delivery, that was one of the gems I remembered

BMWs have been this way for as long as I can remember (20 years). One lock/unlock button in the middle of the vehicle. Pull inside door handles to unlock. I admit, it is a departure from just about every other carmaker.

My 1971 2002 did this. So try at least 40 years.

LOL - yes, I did know that. My Volvo V50 did that as well as the VW Tiguan, but that still doesn't open the passenger doors. I figured out how to change the door opening settings in iDrive and now when I reach the car, I touch the handle and they all unlock. Would prefer that to only happen when I want it to, as in double clicking the key fob to open all doors and clicking once to just open the driver's door. Price I pay for using the comfort access feature - surprising how 'lazy' you get with the new technology. I routinely drive my daughter's VW Jetta and I'll be standing there with my hand on the door handle waiting for it to unlock or forgetting to turn on or turn off the headlights.

If you set comfort access setting back to only open driver's door, double clicking the key fob will still open all doors. Or, touch the passenger side front door handle and all doors unlock. We have ours set this way for safety.

Thank you 'nospam' - I'll have to dig the key fob out of my purse and re-program iDrive.

Don't forget to set your programmable buttons as well. Suggestions: home phone, oil check, night and day nav screen mode, BMW assist, etc.
