6 Series
The BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations. |

What are the typical problems for my car?
Hey all I have a 2005 e63 645ci automatic with 70k miles. What are the typical problems that i could face in the future with this car? Like are there any specific parts that eventually go bad with this model? I'm asking because I don't want to deal with them in the future and would possibly trade my car in before dealin with them. thanks all!

The coolant pipe usually fails in the 75 to 90k range. The valve cover & timing cover gaskets, & alternator o-ring, usually fail around 65k range. The expansion tank & bleeder line usually fail around 60k. The tranny pan & filter should be changed around the 50 to 60k range, Along with the Mechatronics Sleeve. These are the failure times & rough cost. Other items can pop up, but these are the big ones!
Coolant Pipe Indy cost 2k Valve cover & timing cover gaskets Indy 800 to 1500.00 Expansion Pipe, coolant & bleeder pipe 300.00 Indy Alternator O-ring Indy 800.00 Tranny pan, gasket, fluid & seal Indy 500.00 |

It could be leaking from another spot or it could be the dreaded expensive coolant pipe (weep hole and ring). If it is the coolant pipe, then check out this thread on the DIY sub-forum. Big Mike Brown in the Atlanta area (and I'm sure a few others) seem to have mastered the replacement of the coolant pipe with the German aftermarket expanding coolant pipe.
