i had the privilege of using my friend's 1944 Springfield M1A, fired and 8 round clip. lemme tell you, that "ping" noise it makes in video games and movies does not do it justice, it is one of the most self satisfying noises ever. 'boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boomPING'

870 is a great gun. The only conflict is for clay birds/real birds you want the 26" barrel, for jail birds you want the 18" barrel. (The long barrel can be awkward moving around tactically inside the house and you want a bit of spread in your pattern at closer range for "jail birds".)

Oh yeah! That and the 1903 are the two most exciting guns I've ever fired. One of my buddies has a 1941 Springfield Garand. That ping is the coolest noise. However it did let EVERYONE know you were out of ammo. They said in WWII the GI's would take empty ones and throw them to get the enemy to stick his head up.

I love that K98. I wish I had one. as for the beretta.... Danny Glover and Bruce Willis can keep it.

Thanks for the tips. From what I've read so far, the only possible negative about the 870 is pumping for doubles. That's no big deal when others say the gun has fired after being submerged in mud.

i have literally once, put 3000 shells through mine, put it in the trunk of my car, let it sit a week, took it out, busted the rust and carbon off of the barrel, hiked down a valley, dropped it in a shallow brook (i dont have a sling) and then fired about 25 shells through it like it was nothing. I have done everything short of burying it and packing it full of snow, or dropping it from a plane. The ONLY issue mine has ever given me was a few times when the extractor would jam against the receiver while trying to eject low brass (a clay shooting shell). I hated shotguns before I bought it, i treated as such, and then it earned my respect as a damn durable, dependable, die hard piece of machinery.

This isn't to take away from it's arch rival the Mossberg 500, legendary in it's own right, it only has a couple more moving parts, is just as durable and dependable and is used by the US Army because it was cheaper to buy in bulk.

if you HAD to choose between the two I would say buy which ever one was cheaper/ had the features you want.

i never saw a use in this modern day for an over under. I shoot skeet maybe twice a year, and I like having a 4+1 capacity during hunting season. They are beautiful to look at though, especially some of the high end ones with custom engraving.

Do people actually turn in anything worth buying? (besides rocket launchers)

in the past week I have been a bad bad bad person. I bought those trijicon sights, and now i just bought new Howard Leight electronic ear pro. LFI kydex tactical holster, and twin mag pouches. and Falcon grip enhancers as well as a frame plug, all for the glock.

oh jeez... good luck find an XD of any sort in this market... or at least affordably. My LGS still has a boat load of M&P's in 9 and .40 and a couple of 9mm Sigs

The first review compares it to the G23 and says it's better. Seems pretty adamant about that. I don't have $700 for something like that right now, though.

Guilty!

It was at Bradis. Their website isnt much (bradisguns.com), but they are the best shop in indy. They got a couple ARs in and sold them at the same price as 2 months ago. Ya, they aren't looking to gouge.

Giving them a call is your best bet.I can maybe swing by tomorrow. It's about 40 mins from my house and they close at 6pm.

After watching two of my best friends get robbed at gun point a couple months ago, I've been meaning to pick one up. But I'm just going to wait until I get back from deployment.

Sh*t was wild. I was standing right where my buddy was not 45 seconds prior, but I went to piss behind the bar (it was after closing time). I was standing 10 feet away when it happened and saw the whole thing. All I could think about was how prime it would be if I was packing, especially the position I was in over the assailants.
