Upgrade iDrive Controller from 2008 to 2010
Hi All, I have a 2008 x5 and I wanted to upgrade my iDrive Controller, to the newer looking one. I think it's 2010 and newer it has all the functions on the controller. I did some google searches and found that people have successfully done it, with no problem just plug and play.
Has anyone here done it or heard of someone that has on a x5 please let me know thanks.

I'm only doing the controller if u wanna upgrade the whole thing u need a whole new cic system it's like $2500 u can find it on eBay or bummer tech the dealer won't sell it

Hes upgrading the IDRIVE controller knob. The knob does not update the software UI on your idrive.

Replacing the controller will not work on the x5.

It requires a coding change to allow the new controller to work with the CCC idrive

I replaced the entire ccc system to CIC, and updated the tcu to combox.

Talk to Patryk at Bimmertech if you want coding.
