Steering sensor goes out after recall repair!

Has anyone heard of a steering angle sensor going out on a 2009 335d after the SCR recall was done. My SAS did after 5 miles from the dealership. Any ideas what might have fried the steering angle sensor? Bad program? Electrical spike? Any help would be great.
