E92 Vanos issue
Hello,
Had my E92 (2007 328xi variety w/117k on the odo) in for inspection and a new battery today. Of course the tech found some stored codes they wanted to discuss with me for some addional services. Anyway... about 2 years ago I lost all power at highway speeds for about 2 seconds and it scared the life out of me. Turned out to be a dirty vanos which the dealer "blew out" to fix. Fast forward to today... The tech claims that the car is storing vanos related codes again (but I have not had ANY drivability issues at all)... My SA tells me BMW's current policy no longer allows them to clean the vanos, as it must now be replaced in conjunction with an oil change.. quoting me roughly $500. I do all my own oil changes.... but how tough is the VANOS replacement?? Is this a simple DIY job? Edit: Codes thrown are: 2A98 and 2A99 //Brew
