2000 bmw 323i hood vent
Ive noticed that the vent on my upper hood blows cold air put, im not a car expert as you can see so i was wondering if someone coukd explain to me why its blowing cold air out, this is the first bmw ive ever owned so none of my other cars had hood vents.

If I am understanding you correctly, you need to turn the wheel on the upper vents to the 3 red dots. You should now have heat coming out. If not, post back.

No sorry thats not what i meant, there a long vent outside of my car on the hood of my car that blows cold air out, its ontop of the engine on the hood of that makes sence haha

Ah ok! scratch my previous post if you read it. I am multitasking on several forums at the same time, and got my posts mixed up. That is the air intake for the heater and A/C assembly. Have you changed your cabin filter recently? If not, and it is dirty, do so. Also, check the rubber gasket around the cabin filter housing to see if it is there, or is deteriorated. Various other makes of cars use the same principle, but draw the air from other sources. Most draw drom the base of the windshield forward of the wipers. You can see it if you open the hood.
