M60 camshaft reccomemdation
So when I find a 6-speed 540i, I want to build the top of the engine. I am going to port the heads and I was thinking the cams from VAC motorsports. The street cams. I want the same low end but I want a harder kick from 5500-7000 RPM's. Idraa?

Just get a 3.15 diff. It will wake up any 540i and it's easier and probably cheaper than cams.

The M60 from the factory is pretty beefy as it is. Even porting heads is no where near worth it from a price-effort stand point; you wont see any gains.
The motors have forged internals and are incredibly free flowing from the airbox to the muffler. you should just get a supercharger rather than camming and porting heads

Whoa! Is that $2099.95 per camshaft or for all four? http://store.vacmotorsports.com/vac-...m62-p2166.aspx

Personally, I would find the car before choosing which camshaft, differential, supercharger, rims, and license plate frames I want.
![]() And unless you're making this a race car I wouldn't suggest spending more on engine internals than the car itself.
