Looks like this story will have a happy ending. I repaired the hoses, finally got the system bled and I was able to run the car at idle (at temp) for 30 minutes with out overheating. Hooray!!!

While changing the thermostat I found a crack in the thermostat housing. I ordered a new one today and should have it by Tuesday. Then I should be good to go :o)))

The rest is all cosmetic. New seats and a Matt Black paint job.
