Ray, you can't be all that disappointed in your 540i that much or are you..? Yea M5 has this n' that (more power off the back) But I'm completely saticefied with my 540i. Just off the 4.4L I have in it Im just shy of the 400 ponies. Though thats not enough to beat the M5 BUT, its motivation to make newer improvements! Soooooooo with that being said and done, Im doing the motor swap with the M62b46 and I already have the software 100% configured (thanks to ESS Tuning) to run off my existing ECU to support the 4.6L and the mods to swap from the 4.4L (headers, throttle bodie, coils, fuel trim to support my E85 fuel) to the 4.6L. Further more I will look into cams as well. getting to my point, I love doing the work, I enjoy looking for oppertunity to gain more powa! I like poeple thinking my car is a M5 (though thats not at all what I'm shooting for) and sounds rediculousy aggressive that guys thought a cobra was pulling into the station but only to find that it was my E39 540i! LOL Nonetheless I'm building my own Ultimate Driving machine I love the 540i cause realisticly, no one expects to see much done to one. But In all, I'm happy you got what you wanted and stoked that you're sticking to these amazing machines!
