Book Value of 2013 135i Convertible?

Can anyone help me determine the book value of my 2013 135i Convertible? All of the sites I checked do not have the 2013 models yet.

It only has about 1200 miles and went into service in Nov. 2012. It is Titanium Silver with Coral Red, M Sport Package, Moonlight Top, 6 speed manual. It also has over $1k worth of extras but I assume those will not affect the value; however, I have all the original parts so it can be returned to stock. And the car is perfect in & out (located in Florida).

Figure out what invoice is, take off 5% of base MSRP, and then hit it about another 2,500.

Thanks. I am not sure what the invoice price was but the window sticker MSRP was $48,295.

OP, just keep in mind that you are 'competing' with the new car price that is 'invoice plus'...say 500, A buyer can purchase this exact car for 'invoice+500', which means YOUR car is worth far less. It is used, and a buyer will want a significant discount just for that. Then add an additional about for dealer profit. A dealer is not going to take it in trade, at the retail amout and sell it at that same price.

Arguably, if the dealer needs/wants to move the new car you are buying, they may be motivated to trim the profit down.

My 2 cents. I'd take it to Carmax and see what they'll offer, just as a sanity check.

I understand and did not even hope that I would get retail for the car, even though it is only 2 months old. All I was trying to do was to get a book value on the car, which I have yet to get a dealer to give me. Odds are I will just keep and enjoy the car until if and when I need or want to sell it, at which time it will have depreciated to a point where the decrease has leveled off.

I will never go to a Carmax ever again. I have gone to 3 different ones in the past with different vehicles and after waiting a couple hours for someone to value it they came back with insulting offers; I wound up selling 2 of the cars on ebay and the 3rd to a private buyer for much more.

No one has given you a "book value" on your car because there isn't a book out there that would have a value on your car yet. Dealers might be able to look at some recent auction sales, but I'd imagine those are fairly thin for a 2013 also. For a car that new, it really is a "rule of thumb" based on invoice minus any incentives minus dealer bonus minus mileage minus "used car" hit.

Wow, here on the West Coast all I ever hear is how quick they are, and they seemingly overpay for clean cars regularly...

So if the sticker was $48,295 I am guessing the value is about $43,000 (to a dealer)?

Sounds a bit optimistic to me. You will get raped and then beaten mercilessly on price trying to sell a 3 month old car, or even a year old car for that matter. It just doesn't make sense.

Enjoy the car or if it's that bad that you must get out of it, look at it as a cost of getting what you want. There is no way it's worth $43k to a dealer, in my unqualified opinion.

Since you've had luck selling privately or on eBay, you might have the best chance to do something like that over a trade or selling to a dealer. Just my thoughts.

I agree, selling to a dealer would be a last resort. But since I can make the payments I will just enjoy it and keep it advertised, with price drops every month until it sells. Thanks all.

Mid 30's "wholesale" and probably closer to $40k if you can find a private buyer yourself.

If the car stickers for 48,295 then it sold new for 43k.

New. 43k.

So how can some 'book' say that dealers will buy a used car for more?? It is simply incomprehensible that one would think the dealer will pay 43, then add their profit, to compete with their new car lot selling them for...$43k-ish.

I cannot tell you the number of times I've seen owners/sellers convinced they are getting screwed and stubbornly insisting 'they are holding out for their price' and ride the value down to the plateau 2, 3 YEARS later!

The dealer doesn't 'need' your 135... Hence the 'book price' will be low enough they make a nice profit, otherwise the don't need the hassle. Simple.

I doubt a dealer would sell a car identical to mine for $43k - lots of people on the various forums report what they pay for new cars and no one is/was getting $5k off sticker. Regardless, I will not let a dealer have the car for mid-$30s since as I said I don't need to sell it now. But again, thanks for all of the opinions and if and when I sell it I will post the value here.

Out of curiosity why do you want to sell such a nice car?

Yeah, this is true. Bmwconfig uses Microsoft Silverlight and works best in Internet Explorer because of this.
