Max Discount on 328iX

Hi All,
I'm trying to negotiate the price with a dealer and I want to know what is the maximum discount I can push for.
I'm going for 8% off MSRP. Is that reasonable or can I cut it down further (I'm in Ontario-Canada).

do you mean including all dealer costs (freight and PDI,...) or just MSRP

it is about $55k (CAD) including freight and PDI , excluding taxes (that's another 13% here in Ontario!)

I'm thinking that 8% might push it below invoice. Not 100% sure. But the dealers need to pay rent, make payroll, and make a couple $$$$$ in the process too.

I always settle for about 5% off of MSRP, which is generally considered pretty good. Once I get them to agree to that, I'm ready to sign on the dotted line. I want a good deal, I will never pay MSRP, but I'm not a bottom feeder either. Some folks on the 'fest will push even harder than me and that's fine...

Well on my 2011 X3, I got 6%. So I'm guessing they can do higher.
By the way, if they have a car as part of their inventory, would that give them more incentive to offer higher discounts since they want to get rid of it?!
Also is there a loyalty program for someone who buys the second Bimmer (not trade-in)?

If they have a car that's been sitting on the lot for a long time, they are much more flexible. Especially if it's a left over from the previous model year.

Yes, there is a loyalty program that you can get on top of everything else.

No disrespect, but so what? That's not the buyer's problem. That's the dealer's problem. The buyer should push for the lowest price he can get, period, and not feel guilty even one iota over whether the dealer makes or loses any money on the car.

I paid $50 below invoice for my new car. The dealer is not going out of business on my deal, though, because they are selling to plenty of people paying way over invoice, even MSRP, to allow him to sell to me at whatever price he needs to to sell me a car and make his quota. Besides, even though I paid below invoice, they probably made some below the line cash on the sale to me anyway, making it a profitable deal for them in the end.

I see Shaw got his car and is happy with what he paid, and that's the most important part.

I only had one day to make my decision since the "XDrive January Event" would have ended on 31st of Jan. So I looked at it this way: the $1,500 additional credit discount (before taxes) was another 3% of the total cost. So I would receive an actual 9% which I could have not received a single day later. Plus a reduced APR (3.9%) which went back up to 4.9% as of Feb.
and the best part was...this was EXACTLY the config I wanted without the waiting!!! This car has done only 4 Miles. I remember , when I ordered my X3 in 2011 and waited 2 and a half months for it, it had about 16KM on it at the day of delivery. So why wait...

Congratulations! you did very well. I drove the BMW Olympic Drive event last summer which provided a $1,000 coupon for purchase. I negotiated the price to $400 over invoice which combined with the discount was just over 9% off MSRP.
