In the market for 335xi or 335d - what to pay?
Hey all-
I am new to this forum and new to the world of BMW. I thought I should upgrade after driving Hondas and Mazdas for a while. From what I have read, I think a 2009-2012 BMW 335D would meet my needs. I like the torque and the rear wheel drive experience while still being somewhat "green" since I drive on the highway quite a bit. Not sure if I need all wheel drive, and that seems to reduce reliability anyway. The question is, what the heck do I pay? Since the car is now out of production, used or off lease is what I've got to work with. I get that the dealer deserves to make some money, but I also want to get a reasonable price. Consider the specs of a local option: 2011 BMW 335d miles: 23,000 Sport Pkg Prem Pkg Navi Cold Weather Pkg Sat Radio M Sport package Xenon lights Dealer asking price: $38,999 KBB dealer price: $37,430 Truecar price: $34 - $38,000 Edmunds True Market Value price: $37,197 How do I sort out what my final price is? Any thoughts or guidance would be appreciated. Second question: I will get the car inspected by a local mechanic (not the local BMW dealer - if that is important, please let me know). Is there anything that would make me want to walk away? Any problems I should avoid? Thanks again. Appreciate the community support and hopefully I'll be enjoying a BMW soon. I'll post pics if I pull the trigger on the purchase. :-) Plisskin
