Seek / Fast Forward Songs / Tracks from Steering Wheel

Is there any way to seek / fast forward (not skip / jump) songs / tracks from the steering wheel!?

Not that I have found yet. It's rather unfortunate.

That's absurd; the < > buttons are so far from the steering wheel! The rotary dial / button marked with a GREEN arrow should be able to be programmed to seek / fast forward! It's pretty much useless to me otherwise!

Don't you have the track wheel on the steering wheel? If you press it, you'll get the song that's currently playing, and you can either skip to the next song, or go back to the prior.

Pushing the track wheel and rolling it will get you to seek the track you want, I can't get it to work for DVDs I create with multiple music videos though. You can also code it so it shows up in the HUD if you have it.

Thanks for your replies(!), but to clarify:

The rotary dial / button marked with a YELLOW arrow allows you to skip / jump between songs / tracks, but I would like to seek / fast forward, which is what happens when you hold down the button marked with a RED arrow.

Are you saying if you push it in before you roll it, it will allow you to either fast forward or rewind the track being listened to!?

If so, can't wait to try it!

Keep pressing down on the steering wheel button and it will fast forward, or fast rewind if you press and hold the previous track button.

Just tried several different ways / combos / methods of pressing and holding the button, but it does not work as stated!

All it does is jump forward or backward to the next song / track / station, etc. Can you please be more specific?

You know there's a difference between seek / fast forward / rewind and skip / jump, right?

Thanks!

+1. I think the person gave misinformation. The scroll wheel will not fast-forward or rewind. I tried it this morning.

Nope, you're right. I tried it as well it will not seek, just jump.

I guess I never use fast forward, so it's OK for me to use the button on the radio controls. Are you skipping parts of songs all the time?

You can also skip forward using the Idrive controller by hitting the forward arrow as shown. Easier for me than reaching to the right side of the radio section.

Anyone ever find a solution to this? I know it can be done for satellite radio but I can't get it for my music from the USB flash drive or from videos. The seek buttons do not show up on the screen with videos.

Thanks for resurrecting this old post; I'd still like to know as well; major oversight IMHO.

That's what I like the best with this forum. I stumble upon threads by searching a few keywords for problems I'm having with my car and 99 out of a 100 times I find a thread where someone has brought it up before. The collective wisdom of the forum is impressive indeed. We are Borg...
