My engine was purring... literally

Three stray kittens crawled into my engine compartment to keep warm. Took me almost all day to get them out. I heard them meowing before I got inside my car and hit the start button, thankfully. Here's a picture of the third one who decided that the best place to hide was near the fan. Took me the longest time to get him out. Guess he has good taste in cars.

Just a friendly reminder to those who park their cars outside at night. Be mindful that little critters are looking for a place to stay warm and cozy (especially during this time of year).

Poor things. I had a problem with squirrels when I kept a truck parked outside. Unfortunately, they liked to chew through the wiring. So now we only own two vehicles, both garaged.

Unlike dogs, one doesn't own cats, they own you.

So what is the secret for kitty removal - did you place a bowl of warm milk next to the car?

The kittens don't have an owner. There's a stray momma kitty that had kittens somewhere in our neighborhood. Three of her five kittens found their way into the engine compartment of my car. I did everything from putting cans of tuna under my car, which actually attracted the momma kitty who lured two of them out (I nabbed them and put them in my dog's crate). The third? I actually called BMW Assist, who sent a tow truck to tow the car to the dealership (and they were on standby for kitten removal). The tow truck driver got there and literally fished the little kitty out. He had a thick glove and just got in the nooks and crannies and got it out. Didn't have to tow. Found a no kill cat shelter, drove them to the shelter, and got to work around 4pm. Just a little late! Just when I thought our kitten woes were over, two more showed up on our front step... Started feeding momma kitty and they appeared. Off to the shelter we went! LOL!

How adorable! Thank you for taking care of them, I'm glad the story had a happy ending. Calling BMW Assist for kitten removal was a nice touch.
