Not sure about the 335, but at this price range, you're not going to find many 550s, and those that you do find will have tons of miles. Be careful.....

First I want to point out the main reason I'm getting a BMW is because I LOVE a drivers car and I feel like I can't do any better than this with a four door car. I have been racing car for nearly 5 years now so I know how I want my car to feel but I don't want to spend a fortune on making it that way so I'm at a cross-road.

THINGS I WANT TO KNOW:
Which one is better in the corners, and why?
Which engine set-up is more reliable (I'm very worried about the turbo)
Which engine is more lively (again I'm worried about the turbo lag)
Any problems that the cars have had, such as Fuel Pump problems or decaying interior.

Please help!
Both the 550i and the 335i would not be classified as having Toyota-like reliability, but they are nice cars. As for the 550i, I'm not sure if there are any engine issues, but some parts of the N62B48 may wear out such as gaskets, possible coolant pipe leak, but I'd believe the V8 to be more reliable than the N54B30. I was never a big fan of FI engines. You will love the torque that the 550i has.

I just bought a 2006 550 with 58K miles for $22,500. I drove several 335s and they just don't compare to the 550. Although, it's all personal preference.

So here's my question on the 550. I hear that the F10 body now comes in AWD. Are they referring to xdrive or an XI? Does xdrive even work? In other words is there such a thing as a 550xi?

It's pretty much the same AWD system as the one in 535xi, it's referred to XDrive nowadays. my 335 coupe rear emblem even says 335i and on the front fender it says XDrive. Not sure why BMW delete the xi emblem, it's probably just marketing.
But this XDrive is for sure uses more elctronics to control power coupling from rear to front when slippage detected. But it's very light compare to worm-drive Quattro systems for sure.
Yes BMW finally decided to put AWD into x50 class, but not in M cars yet.

It might be light compared to other systems, but actually it adds 200 lbs to the car's base weight. It's like driving around with a heavy passenger next to you.
