Power Steering Fluid Leak
Techs found a power steering fluid leak around the hoses on my 06 X5. Said the filter was clogged and reservoir was full. In order to change the filter, a whole new reservoir was needed. $495 incl. labor. Ouch!

That an easy DIY. Here's a youtube video on how to do it and where to buy the reservoir and fluid. Video is for an E46, but the E53 is similar except for the airbox.

Just watched the video and wasn't sure if it was my phone or the video I couldn't hear the audio that good. I've have a leak on one of my BMW and the other I have a a sound when I turn like it needs power steering fluid but its full. Two questions, any ideas on the noise and it looked like on the video he was putting on regular screw type claps back on the hoses. I've been told that they require special clamping on them ?

I can hear the video on my computer so it must be the player on your phone. The original clamps were one time use squeeze clamps, so unless you can buy those hose clamps the only alternative is to use the worm clamps. Turn the steering wheel lock to lock a couple of time to see if you have air in the system. If the noise still persist you may have to either replace the rack, or the power steering pump.
