This is an unpopular view in the U.S. Sadly, many expect others to be responsible for their voluntary acts, even when they themselves are in complete control.

I have no interest in pre-warming the car before driving, but those who do should be allowed to do so and, perforce, assume any risk in having made this decision.

I am of the mind that we are adults and this is on its own not crazy behavior for the car to be able to be operated like this. I'd like to go further and allow remote start/stop via the app (like in Europe I believe) in order to warm/cool car before entry.

Time limits make sense to me, the car should perhaps run in this fashion for a limit of 10 or 15 minutes.

I didnt try a second time. It did not lock when I first tried it and started the car back up from ASS. I bet if I tried to lock at that point it would have worked. However, I needed to open the door and turn car off first.

How about you start a new thread called "Help, I'm hopelessly ignorant about what Comfort Access is and what it does and I seem to think it has something to do with how the engine is turned on and off."

What are you talking about? I had comfort access in my e90. I loved it.

I have it too in my E92 and agree that it is useful. The point is that things are different in the F30. All cars now have keyless start. Comfort Access affects only the door and trunk locks (and the top on the convertible). So, for the F30, if the subject is how to shut off the engine, Comfort Access is completely off the topic.

I can only dream of being as intelligent and sophisticated as 'krash' but this is the first car I've ever left locked with the engine running by mistake, so I think this is definitely a design fault.

This will probably also be your last as you are now more fully aware of using a fob rather than a key. Acclimation to a new procedure can take a bit.

Yes for sure, but I still think it should:

a. Give a warning you can hear outside the car as you try to lock it with engine running

b. Shut down the engine after say 10 minutes
