E-brake?

Hi all,
I have a question about the emergency brake. Kinda dumb,if you pull your ebrake will your wheels lock up. Mine don't and I suspect I need to change the springs or something.

Haven't tried it on my BMW, but I used to do it with my VW rabbit in my young stupid days. If I'm correct, I believe that the brake is actually just a parking brake and that is its actual intended function. You have to remember that your car is very heavy and it would take a lot of rear wheel braking force to lock up the wheels.

yes it should lock the wheels up. i would try adjusting it first. try the cable then at the shoes also

+1 on adjusting. Shoes first then cables. Also find a long down hill and use the e-brake to control speed - as per handbook. Don't go too wild. Then in N the wheels should lock.

of course, it wont lock the wheels if the car is in drive or is in gear and clutch engauged, depending on the cars setup. but in neutral for both, yes you should be able to lock the rear wheels

pull the hand brake on in a manual FWD car and thats how you can do stand stills in them, something that is MUCH harder in a RWD car
