Cup Holders are terrible

Anyone that had a E65/E66 think the cup holders in the F01/F02 are terrible? Anybody find a insert or something that actually holds your cup? I turned out of the driveway today and dumped my whole cup of coffee. They don't hold a cup and are not deep enough. Not sure what BMW was thinking on this one. Probably my only gripe on the car so far.

They hold my cups ok. I don't like the placement cause they block the climate controls with cups installed.

I had E65 and now I have F02 and YES I do hate the cup holders in my F02. sometimes the when I close it and open it again it's stuck ( Replaced by the dealer on warranty )

There is an insert that supports 2 cups. Otherwise, it's just a big rectangular space. Are you saying that even with the insert your cup falls over?

My insert is just a flat piece of rubber...nothing to hold the cup. I will take a picture. Is yours different than what I describe?

lol....see post #14 in this thread - what does your cup-holder look like? If it looks like the second pic, you're missing the actual cup-holder.

Sometimes dealers leave that insert in a compartment in the trunk. Otherwise, call the dealer and just tell them it's missing.

Dumb question how do you remove it to clean it? I had a Carmel frap and it incidentally leaked down there, and I don't want to break it when removing it to clean it.

No they won't fit. I sold them last week. Looking for a new set of wheels now. Not digging the style 252.

Thanks! I tried gently when I spilled, and didnt want to rip it out and break it.

I actually threw it in my trunk, we lack a lot of interior cubby space, so now I have a large space for my drink plus cell and keys. I dont drive like a crazy person in this car so my stuff keeps the drink in place.

Took car to the dealer today. They are getting me a cup holder insert. $12 part.

Not sure if you know, left side of the steering wheel, the is a mini glove box compartment for more storage.

I hate the cup holders as well. If they hadn't at least had the crappy ones they have I wouldn't have even bought the car. Having my coffee on the way to the office in the morning while I commute is just too important to me.

I agree and loved the ones on my E65. They had nice metal sliding covers when not in use and held cups great...never a spill. I liked the drawered compartments for storage better also but everything else is better.

I completely agree! I liked the cup holders in my 2003 745i much better as well as the middle storage much better. Everything else is better on my 2012 750li though.
