Spinning key
I have a spinning key in my 740il 1997. I have tried to get the cylinder out. Tried the tool. I am at a complete loss. Thinking about removing the entire housing, but it looks like there are two bolts I have to grind off. PLEASE HELP ME...I have to have my car back...THANK YOU!

1997 Spinning Key
I just had the same problem on my E36, your ignition switch is not long for this world, if it is still functional. Bavarian is probably your best bet for a new one. I understand that this is a common occurence on BMWs. Good Luck.

Those bolts are easy to remove with a small sharp chisel. I get my daughter to do mine now as my close vision is not so good. Replace with Allen bolts.
