96 328is Question about 4 way coolant pipe

Hi guys, I have the manifold off and I am trying to replace everything under it while I can because I don't want to do it again. My question is about removing the 4 way coolant return pipe. I disconnected all the hoses and the 2 bolts to the manifold. Do I just pry or pull the front of the pipe out? It seems to be just pess fit into the housing at the front end of the car. Am I missing something or is that it? Is there an o-ring in there to hold it in? How is it held in? I don't want to start yanking on it if I shouldn't. Thanks.

Yes, just pull it out. There's an O ring behind it (make sure you get the old one out).

Just pulled one out of the 318 today. It was brittle and in terrible shape. Two of the connections broke off while removing it. One was already cracked badly enough to spray coolant on the head/block joint, making me think the head gasket had failed.
