Can anyone help me with a wheel and tire question? I have a 2008 X3 with sports package
upgrade. 19" wheels. I was told that I can install 18" wheels and snow tires, with aftermarket rims. I know that I have 2 size of rims front and read. But do I have to install 18" and 18.5" or can I use 18" all the way around? And does anyone know what aftermarket rims would work? Thanks in advance for any help davj345 |

Your 19" optional wheels just differ in width - forget about 18.5" diam. wheels.
For your proposed snow tires, the best plan would be to get some used BMW X3 or early X5 rims in either 17" or 18" size, and then buy 4 x 235/55/17 or 4 x 235/50/18 snow tires respectively. Some aftermarket rims might be fine, but you have to be careful - I'd trust Tirerack's picks but not too many other sources. |

I wouldn't recommend staggered setup for winter tires. Stick with a 17" or 18", equal all around size. P235/55R17, P215/60R17, and P235/50R18 are OEM sizes. I wouldn't deviate from that.
(If you search, I'm running P235/60R17 and it runs fine but screws up the speedometer and odometer a bit since now everything reads 2% slow) |
