2103 X3 M Sport passenger comfort?
Hey everyone,
A few weeks ago, I asked for help with deciding between a new XC60 R-Design and an X3 35i M-Sport. Well, the x3 wins but I have a question about the passenger seat. My wife and spent some time in a '13 Acura RDX this past weekend and I was shocked at poor passenger seat comfort. Poor might actually be putting it nicely. It sits very low so your knees are practically under your chin (I'm 6 feet tall, not a giant by any stretch), there's a complete lack of adjustment options and zero thigh support. By comparison, the driver's seat is fully adjustable with lumbar support, tilt and height options etc... We've driven an X3 and sat in the M-Sport seats but can't really recall how much attention went into the passenger side. We're concerned that it might be a similar situation to the RDX. What can you guys tell us? Thanks! |

I think my M-Sport passenger and driver's seats have the same adjustments (but not 100% certain).

The base seats suck. The seats in the m sport or the sports activity pkg are much better, and provide almost the same adjustability to the passenger than that provided to the driver.

I have the sports seats and the passenger seat has thigh support as well as lumbar adjustment, side bolster adjustment and a few more. I think she will be good to go

Thanks all. Seems like a bad place for auto manufacturers to cut corners. Comfort of all passengers is a big deal and in this case, a non-negotiable deal-breaker.

There are a lot of adjustments for the sport seat passenger side. You (or your wife) might need to spend time finding the right setting.
I agree with a previous poster, it s much better vs. the standard seats. |

I have the X35i M-Sport and the driver's seat and passenger seats are the same (and in the opinion of my wife and myself, very adjustable/comfortable). (At her insistence, we also got heated seats which provide an additional level of "aaah."
) About the only difference I note is that the driver's side (only) has the dual "memory" settings for position.

Christopher,
Front Passenger Seat Height Adjustment is a big reason that I am leaning towards the X3 above less expensive offerings. The front passenger seat has all of the comfort that the drivers seat offers, which is outstanding. IMHO this feature is a good litmus test of a true luxury car - you won't find passenger seat height adjustment capability in the X3 competitors made by Acura or Lexus. The reviewers are noticing this as well... http://www.edmunds.com/bmw/x3/2012/l...enger-too.html |

Is the X3 sport seat fairly close to the X5 counture (comfort seat) that the x5 community is raving about?

I love the passenger seat in our 2012 X3 M Sport (35i).

I test drove an X3 M-Sport a couple days ago. Others have covered the front passenger. I found the rear passenger seats not so comfortable. Most reviews confirm this. But I am comparing it to other vehicles not on your list whose rear seats have better thigh support and are adjustable. I didn't notice if the X3 rear seats are adjustable.

This is good info but I was indeed talking about the front passenger seat. Thanks all the same!

Yah, no problem. The thread title imprinted with me as the generic "passenger".
