Beautiful mods on the car. My favorite part is how nice the chrome M6 wheels complement the black color.

It's actually pretty simple to do this mod. First piece is the NAVVIDEO. This device simply interrupts the BMW Nav screen and allows up to 5 inputs including Rear camera, Aux 1,2,3 and an RGB input. It feeds the devices directly to the screen. It uses the CAN buss and the steering wheel and menu buttons for control. I purchased a standard 30 pin adapter cable and ran it to the center console. Connected the video out from the cable to the NAVVIDEO in and ran the audio to the Aux in. That was really it. Hope that helps.

Hi Roseng can you supply some pics I saw the video but do you have more? I want to see the inputs and the set up if possible! Thanks!!!
Otherwise I will have to drive down and have a day tutorial if possible? Maybe on a 6er convention.

Your 2006 does not have the factory installed Aux In, if you do not have it retrofitted from a previous owner then you would need to add the Aux In retrofit in order to use the Video with Audio feature. Unfortunately adding Aux In would require that you either install yourself by disassembling the center console to get to the back of the radio or paying the dealer a bunch of money to do so. Also, once the hardware is installed, the car Idrive has to be programmed, again can be done by dealer or by you if you have the wish to buy a coding cable. |

There are some DIY's on various forums if you are up to trying the Aux-in install yourself.

Since I'm not a big fan of body kits or blacking out the chrome (I bought the car because I think the designers did a GREAT job) I decided this would be my Bling. When I had the Elipse wheel it was much more subtle but I don't mind it.

There is a manual on the NAVVIDEO. There is a breakout connector on the box, It had LOTS of RCA connectors on it. All sources connect there. Other connectors go to to power, CAN BUS, and of course the iDrive screen. The real trick is where to put it. With the cable length to the screen you are very limited on where you can put this device. In addition the massive amount of cables make for somewhat if a rats nest. I always dress my cabling carefully but there is no way to do that here. I wound up putting everything in the space where the CD changer would go, behind the removable pannel in the glove box. It barely makes it but once it's done, you don't see anything at all. I hope that helps.

I love the covers!! Maybe would have stopped my rear spring from popping off. Can I purchase these online? If so can you recommend anyone?
Thanks

Roseng- the aux input you showed in the pic has a USB plug on it. Is that custom? I usually see the aux plug alone. I would love to purchase that I hate the one siting in my cig. lighter plug.

For the USB mod you can get a combo USB/AUX that fits where the aux in is now. It's used in newer models and is the same size. I had to mod the connector and fit a computer USB port where the factory connector was. I basically used a separate USB extension cord. I ran the other end up front, above the passenger foot well. Then I used a USB cigarette lighter adapter that I took apart and wired to the power above the foot well on that side. Takes a while but it's not that complicated. You can order it from Tischer. Let me know if you need more info.

What's the most common color people use on a 6'er? (mine is white) Do they come "blank" or have the MGP logo on them? I'm no wrench, easy cheap install? And seek who/type to do it? Thanks in advance. -Mark |

Installation is a breeze. Remove the wheel and it's about 5 minutes per wheel for the install. Really, anyone can do it. They come stock with their logo but for about $80 or so extra they will put what ever you want. Look at the website. All the info it there. Good Luck.

Hey roseng, awesome work!
Where did you get the custom harness for the LED indicators? Is it a plug and play harness or does it require cutting up of wires? Furthermore, did you need to code the ECU for the light out warning or did the resisters in the harness take care of it? |
