Pedal Differences: Factory vs OEM Stainless Steel
Factory vs Stainless Steel (from the M Performace Pkg - Kit p/n = 35 00 0 410 100). Factory = Week 49 2013
The factory pedal is a newer design and in my opinion is superior in build, design, pedal travel, and kick down (passing gear). Pic 1. Stainless M Performance Pkg accelerator vs Factory accelerator Pic 2. Stainless M Performance Pkg accelerator vs Factory accelerator Pic 3. Backside of Factory accelerator (metal connects with passing gear button, flexes upon contact) Pic 4. Factory accelerator passing gear button (kick down) Pic 5. Factory accelerator p/n & production date pic 6. Stainless M Performance accelerator extended further (length) & rod connecting the pedal to main assembly (newer, factory accelerator has neither) Last edited by Sean; 01-28-2013 at 07:20 PM. |

I installed another set (a la, 335is). The clutch & brake went on a lot easier than the X5 brake pedal. The accelerator was a breeze the second time as well.

What a silly "performance" upgrade...
Did you dyno this? ![]() And you all know that the 'kickdown' is one of the worst ways to abuse your transmission, right?

![]() As far as the 'kickdown' goes, in my opinion, no need to use it if you have the V8. We used it frequently in the former 3.0si X5. Last edited by Sean; 01-31-2013 at 07:18 AM. |

I did not get the M performance package but I have the M sport pkg. I ordered the stainless steel pedals from the parts dept and tried to have my service advisor put them on but he said it was a different connector and the pedal was too big. They said they will look into it. Does anyone have any advice?

I researched this after the install. Apparently the accelerator was changed sometime during the 2009 model year. It is believed it was done as a cost cutting measure. The older design will mount as the mounting bracket on the floorboard & wiring harness connector have not changed. As far as operation, it is the same with exception to how the kick down (passing gear) performs (pictures above explain). Save yourself some money and install it yourself. Follow the link 5SeriesHB posted above. Last edited by Sean; 02-11-2013 at 11:37 AM. |

Got the pedals from getBMWparts.com and installed last weekend. Instructions were great. Getting accelerator pedal unplugged and changing break pedal were challenging. See pictures below.

Missing the cap that covers the torx. It is doable, but you have to literally break the factory one off & from what I have read the M footrest does not fit properly after breaking the factory part free. I would prefer to install the M footrest in the E90, our E70 has it from factory, but it is not worth it if it is not going to fit properly. Last edited by Sean; 02-11-2013 at 11:39 AM. |
