BMW CD Changer install question

Just finished installing the BMW CD Changer P/N 82 11 1 469 404 into 2005 X5, Nav, DSP, Premium Sound... Did not work, no sound. Followed the directions exactly.

Instructions said "For vehicles without DSP HiFi connect the 6 pin audio cable to changer. For vehicles with DSP HiFi connect the single coax digital audio cable to the changer (for DSP the 6 pin audio cableneed not be connected)."

After connecting the "optional?" 6 pin connector, it worked fine. ...what gives?

Starting in 03 BMW stopped using the single coax cable and now uses the 6 pin audio cable for both DSP and non-DSP.

Well...that answers that! I'll try and return that cable the parts department was pushing.

I have a 2003 bmw x5 w/dsp and navigation. I purchased a cd changer and attempted to connect it. I connected the 3pin cable and the single coax cable to the cd changer but there is no sound coming out of the vehicle. There is no 6 pin connector in my x5 as i looked for a while. There is no sound coming out from the speakers.

Can somebody please help me on this. I can go through the tracks and the titles appear on the navigation screen but there is no music coming out from speakers.

Dcane, did you ever get this answered?can you tell me where your cd chnager cables were located? i open the compartment where my MK$ navigatipn is located but i cannot find my cables.

decane1982, I also have new CD Changer went through all the cables in the L/h rear and found no 6 pin connector nor co-ax.
Spent 2 hours at local dealer with 3 techs trying to find hook-up cable and no luck.
CD player reads disk title and track no. but no sound.
Would really appreciate info and/or pics on this.

This is an old issue for you guys, but it's the same issue for me to installing the I Simple ISBM72 for the iPod. I cannot locate the pin 6 connector at the back left hand side. I have 2002 X5. Does anyone have answer or picture where the pin 6 is? Or any other option use as the audio input for the system since the 3 pin connector is for the control into the radio. I appreciate for your time. Thank you.

There are two three pins cables at the rear of the truck one is for the stereo and the other is for the factory telephone setup. Make sure you are using the one for the stereo and not the phone because although the plugs look the same, they are NOT INTERCHANGEABLE. Using the phone three pin plugs for the cd changer can damage the cd changer. If you don't have the six pin connector in your truck you will need to purchase a DSP converter cable. Both Dice and Grom have this cable.
