Matte Black 650i

After much deliberation, I decided to pull the trigger on a matte black wrap for my new car. I know it was starting to reach the played-out stage, but I just wanted a different color.

I went to Deviate Autosport after seeing some of their wrap jobs, they're probably the best doing it in Houston right now. Matte Black body with Gloss Black trim and Powder-coated wheels and brakes.

I was pretty shocked with the difference... in a good way. Tell me what you guys think?

Absolutely gorgeous. Been wanting to do this for the longest but the price for this job on a lease is tough to justify

Nice job, but no for me...you had me at Space Gray. I'm a sucker for that BMW colour.

Sorry...you took a once beautiful, elegant and sporty car and turned it into something that looks like it needs a paint job.

hmmm...the second pic looks stunning, but it's one of those things - it'd be tough to live with every day. It def does look "special".

Nope!

Agree with Leslierc, it was gorgeous in the space gray. Now, not so much.

Either way is a beautiful car, but with so many Matt black cars out there right now it doesn't have the "wow" effect anymore, like others said the grey looked amazing.

Of course it's not for everyone, but the best part of it is I can just take it off after a year or so and the paint will look like the day I put the wrap on.

Definitely not for everyone but I try to think logically in an effort to understand everyone and their different choice selections.

I just can't wrap my brain around having a desire to make your 100K car look like it needs a paint job. I see a lot of them around town...since many people are fad followers.
Everytime I see one my stomach feels kinda sicky. It just doesn't compute in my brain.

Like Ice, I try to be open minded on a look or style that just confuses my senses. I always say if you haven't tried something you should stay away from the negative comments or just make no comment at all.

Think it's a cool option you have. I'm glad you have that choice to unwrap that beauty when you tire of this look.........AND you have that awesome color beneath. Keep comin around we all can learn somethin.

I don't get the monochromatic all black look, but to each his own. And like you say, the good news is it isn't permanent.

Meh, people just don't like it because it's not factory. If it was factory, I bet you that it would get a lot more positive comments...

Oh wait, they do have a factory option like that. I believe it's called "Frozen" and if I recall correctly, the majority were drooling over it.

Seeing the same factory colors just gets old fast. I can't spit without hitting a SG BMW in my neighborhood. If I had the extra cash, I would be doing the same thing, but I went with a Dinan Stage 2 instead.

What I don't understand is how people don't understand that not everyone has the same taste. Just sayin. If You don't like it, cool. But don't knock the guy for not having the same opinion or taste as you.

Nice touch! Needs some tints though

I agree with your premise generally, but I think the fact that most people here who expressed their feelings that the matte black wasn't for them had nothing to do with it not being a "factory colour". Frankly, I think it had more to do with your other statement that not everyone has the same tastes. Keep in mind that the OP's post asked what people thought...I've always maintained that honest questions should encourage honest answers. However, I strongly agree with you that no one should be subjected to abuse because their tastes in cars, fashion, mods, etc. is not perceived to conform with another's. [By the way, I re-read all of the posts so far and it does not strike me that anyone who disagreed was "knocking" the OP for his tastes. I think people were just giving honest and respectful opinions. Just saying...]

I am thinking these pictures are not really portraying the color right. I was parked next to a matte black Mercedes yesterday and thought it looked great. It was too dark for my taste, but it didn't look like it needed a paint job or aftermarket in any way. The Mercedes did get painted that way from the factory so I am not sure if the wrap looks as good, but in general I thought the matte black looked classy. Then again I am already part of the "matte fad" considering I drive a frozen bronze car so not sure if my opinion really counts on this subject.

What does the wrap material consist of? Is it vinyl applied to the painted surface; like wallpaper?

Can it be removed easily?

Regardless of color being portrayed correctly, the dude wall papered his car.
