Mein Auto: 2011 750i M Sport
Buying my first BMW. Thoughts on this 750i M-Sport?

Hey guys I'm wondering if you can give me some advice on a vehicle I am currently in negotiations for. It's a 2011 750i M Sport with a $98,500 original MSRP. It has nearly all of the optoins. M Sport, heads up display, leather instrument panel, surround view cameras, ceramic controls, etc. Loaded. It has 33,000 miles and is a lease turn in. It has also been BMW ceritified to 100,000 miles.

My only issue is the car looks like it was not very well taken care of. There was some minor road rash on all 4 wheels, what apeared to be excessive fingernail or ring scratches on the driver side door panel (where the door handle is - napa leather), and a huge stain in the trunk. And when I first looked at the car (granted it had just been turned in off lease) it was absolutely filthy inside.

What would you say the market is for this car? I've seen price ranges all over the board on F01's.

The dealership assured me they'd repair all of the cosmetics and make it look new, but I am still a bit worried about the car's history.

Any input is appreciated, thanks!

What history? All you've described...curb rash, stain in trunk, scratches on leather...is wear and tear. CarFax might be a good starting point.

Curb rash & nail scratches - I'd bet dollars to doughnuts it was a woman's car.
Wouldn't necessarily scare me away, as it's just cosmetic stuff.
However, make sure all service has been performed on schedule.
If she was anything like my wife, the oil may never have been changed.

after a quick dealer prep sounds like the car is fine, door panel can be dyed or changed rims are 150 a rim to refinish and the stain in the trunk can be fixed with a new matt. hows the body?? paint condition? Thats where to worry, as far as maintained?? It wasnt it was a lease and the car only has 33k miles there really isnt any maint to do, as long as the car has warrty should be fine. As far as market value I would say 50-55k.

Just make sure you inspect the car fully before taking delivery or plopping down any money.

My guess would be somewhere in the 55-60k range for a 2011, Loaded, ~30k miles. I checked eBay and that seems to be where they're at.

What's the difference between a rental car and a Hummer? A rental car can go off road. A leased car is essentially a long term rental, with often similar condition. Whenever I scratch something on my car, or stain the interior a little, my wife always says "Don't worry - it's just a lease".

Personally, all things being equal, a car that wasn't leased would likely be in better condition.

flabmw,

I'm having similar difficulties finding a quality lease return. I've been looking for several months and am disgusted with some of the things I am finding. If you hear the words that "it was owned by a very good long time client of ours" that means avoid it because the dealer likely looked the other way when the car was returned with minor (and sometimes major) damage. I guess I was lucky to find a pristine CPO E66 with 12K miles back in 2008 when I bought my '05. I recently looked at a CPO '09 F02 that was very well optioned (camera pkg, driver assistance, luxury seating, premium sound, leather inst panel, HUD, night vision). The bumper had screws in it and there was a quarter size hole down by the lower grill. When I asked about it the dealer said that the guy screwed in a European plate and had an aftermarket radar detector put in that they had to remove in order to CPO. I then inspected the bumper more closely and found the whole front clip was misaligned, there were ripples and dents in the bumper, there was crappy fill an re-spray work, and there was a piece of mdf stuck behind the lower grill. Turns out the guy had hit some road debris (plywood) on the highway and did a patch job on the bumper just to get it to pass lease return inspection. In fairness to the dealer, after identifying the issues, they agreed that the whole front clip needed to be replaced and fixed properly -- which they did (at a cost of probably close to 1K for them). I almost convinced myself to purchase the vehicle after this work was done but I just couldn't stop wondering "what else had I missed?". Good luck finding your next dream car. I am still trying to find mine. BTW, well optioned '09's seem to be just below 50K, '10's are in the low to mid 50s, and '11's are mid to high 50s.

-Dan

Last December I returned to a BMW dealer in CA an end of lease 2010 750i, with 16K miles, in excellent shape (maybe a nick on one or two of the wheels). Really as close to perfect as a 3 year old car can be - it even had a brand new tire. I wonder who is the lucky new owner ...

Mein Auto: 2011 750i M Sport
Hey guys thanks for all the input!! I told the dealer I would come back in a few days and inspect the car again once they had a chance to give it a deep clean and repair the cosmetic issues I mentioned above. I plan on checking it out again today or tomorrow.

Any opinions on the color combo of Carbon Black with Oyster/Black interior?

I know this thread is old but thought I would chime in just to give you an idea. I just bought a CPO 2011 750i M sport as well with 35k miles about a week ago. Options are very similar to yours with Heads up/comfort access/sound, etc. I don't have lane departure/night vision or any rear seat entertainment options. The cars condition was immaculate and the dealer installled brand new tires as well (although they are the garbage goodyears everyone talks about). It too was a lease return. Paid $52.6K before taxes/title. It may not have been the best deal nor was it the worst deal but it was clean, had the color and options I wanted. Anyway, good luck on your purchase. Now back to reading through the forums to begin modding the car!

My new uses 750ix M sport

This week, 46k for my 750ix m sport, 105k msrp, super clean. Every option. Contrary to other post suggesting 58k, and from my local Mercedes dealer. I would pass on filthy, or get it for 42k.
