Fender bender

Well, we had a little snow storm the other day and I was unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end of a drivers inability to drive on ice. She was behind me and probably going to fast for the conditions and when I slowed to make a right turn she stepped on her brakes and slid her car into the right front corner of my car. I was lucky enough not to get any damage on the fender or hood, but I will be getting a new bumper cover and headlight. Insurance and estimates from two body shops have already said it should be about $2700 for the complete repair.

Feel sorry for you. Can't believe you are driving the Z with this type of conditions. I know I wouldn't.

Well I do have a set of snow tires all around and it is pretty easy to drive in bad weather. I guess the issue is the fact that other people may not be able to drive in that weather. I do have an older SUV that I used to drive when the weather turned bad, but I have a daughter that has kind of commandeered it as her own and left me with just the Z as my primary car. I guess maybe it is time to go looking for another.

Sorry to hear. I never had experience with the xDrive models, but you should consider those for snow.

I did have an '08 328xi that I drove for 4 years prior to getting the Z4. While there was a slight advantage to driving the xi in the snow with all season tires I decided to try the RWD with snow tires and honestly I think I prefer the RWD Z4 over the 328xi.

Sorry to head the Bimmer got hit. Absolutely go new back to factor spec new. A good paint shop will be able to color match the paint to an exact match.
Maybe you can get some mods with the new front bumper? Paint the F lower center grill, or side grill vents red or gloss black while the cars apart.

Yikes, that sucks Hopefully the shop will get you fixed up soon.

Not necessarily on the paint matching. Red is the most susceptible color to oxidizing and his car is 4 years old. Could be tricky

I think I may be OK on the color match because even though the car is 4 years old, it has always been garaged and only has 14K. In addition, it gets a good coat of Zaino 3 or 4 times a year. It is supposed to be done by Friday so I guess I will find out soon enough.

Well I got my car back and it looks brand new again. I had a few scraps along he bottom of the spoiler from pulling in and out of my driveway and now even those are gone.
