When in doubt, check the DIY section of XOutpost.com. In particular, the DIY fix for the pixel issues is here: http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x3/...r-problem.html

I got all excited when I saw this post, because I have the same growing problem with grey pixels on my Nav screen.

For the DIY post, isn't that dealing with the display under the speedometer/tach ("RELEASE PARKING BRAKE" etc.)?

If someone has any info on the dying pixels on the NAV display, I would love to hear about it. Right now dead area is about the size/length of a quarter on edge, but growing.......

Subject: Re: General Inquiry Email from Bimmernav

the new widescreens are on sale right now on this page

If you want voice control you will need the BMW bluetooth kit that gives you voice control of the navigation and your bluetooth equipped cellular phone

we do sell the displays inside the unit however it takes quite a bit of effort to replace just the screen, and costs $250 for the part alone.

we do sell the screen for $250. this is a stand alone part

therefore most people just replace the entire widescreen http://www.bimmernav.com/url/widescreen/

All of our X5 products are on this page including our bluetooth kit that gives you navigation voice control http://www.bimmernav.com/url/x5/

I started having the problem of my screen turning yellow (loss of the color blue) over the past year. The problem would come and go. Thanks to some postings on other threads, I learned that the ribbon cables from the screen to the radio chassis can have a bad connection. I pulled the radio, disconnected the ribbon cables from the circuit board, used some contact cleaner on the ends of the ribbons, reassembled and the screen has been working great ever since. I would venture to guess that some blank screen issues could be due to this same problem, but not so sure about loss of pixels. At any rate, it is only about a 20- 30 minute job to pull the radio-nav chassis out of the dash, open the top cover, disconnect the ribbon cables and clean them. And if you do it yourself, no cost. A quick, cheap way to eliminate one possibility.

Benny224...did you notice the "DATES" that are associated with the replies in this thread...as well as the number of posts that manyof the responders had accumulated? I'm not sure who you're asking to keep you in the loop...but you may want to "left click" on that forum member's name, then scroll down to & click on "find all posts by xxx"...that way you can see if that person is still active on the forum.

If they haven't posted since 2011...I doubt that you're going to be "kept in the loop".

You may do better to find an "active" or more recent thread about replacing the nav screen...like this one I found in less than 5 seconds by doing a simple google search...it appears to be at least active up to 9/1/2012...and has 18 pages of discourse in the entire thread that started 5/3/2010: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...v-monitor.html
