535 Diesel and 3 Series GT Go into Production July 2013

My CA emailed me with great news today. Last night the BMW system updated and now shows the 535 diesel engine going into production in July 2013. I am scheduled to pick up my 2014 LCI 5er doing European Delivery on Wednesday July 24. Now I can likely get the 2014 LCI 535d that I was hoping for. It is not confirmed yet, my CA is waiting on final word from BMW Euro Delivery.

The other exciting news is that the 3 Series GT starts production in July according to the BMW dealer system. We have a 2014 X3 on order for wifey with production the week of April 1. I may cancel that and try to do a 3 Series GT using European Delivery on July 24.

Do you know if the 535d will be available in XDrive and/or with the MSport package?

So... have you had a chance to inquire? I am interested in the 5 series diesel with the MSport package as well.

I couldn't wait so I bought an A6 Quattro. Might consider another BMW diesel if they send the right ones to the US. So far, the Audi has been great.

That is great news. I would really like to purchase a 535d doing BMW Euro Delivery on August 8, 2013. Unfortunately due to the poor quality of diesel fuel here in Illinois and the resulting high number of warranty claims, BMW, MB, Audi, and VW are contemplating not selling diesel models here in Illinois. Hopefully that ugly rumor from a a very reliable source will not become reality.

I think that date might be early - I was told late August/September for the cars but that was a month ago and not firm.

Re the diesel fuel problem, it's a problem, clearly. I'm really not sure what can be done about it (the quality issue).

Guys,

What are you smoking? My CA has been I touch with BMW ED office and I have ED scheduled for August 5th, but it will be MY13 - I was told that MY14 will not be ready for delivery until mid-to-late August. Are you sure you have MY14 delivery confirmed for end of July?

This is the second time I've seen you post this. What/who is your source? How would one source know what 4 different automakers are planning?

I know that VW owners in IL received letters permitting them to use up to 20% biodiesel. Search tdiclub and you can see the letter yourself.

Its not helpful for you to post something this significant that can't be backed up.

It is from an extremely reliable source. Diesel fuel in Illinois is low quality. What I am posting here is quite insighful. If you don't find my post insightful that is too bad. I have a high level of creditably on Bimmerfest.

I agree. The dealer is attempting to work around that in recognition that this BMW Number 8 in 12 years that I or my business paid for. If all else fails I will pick up 550i or 535i. I would love to get a diesel, however if not this time then the next time.

The fuel is not "low quality", its just that the diesel most available in your state is B11 due to tax incentives. The fuel is required meet ASTM specs.

I'm sorry if me stating the fact that a rumor as significant as the one you are repeating warrants citing a credible source (besides yourself, of course ). If you don't want to share specifics that's fine, just tell us what position they are in to put them in a place that they would have real info on what 4 fierce competitors are planning for a large segment of the market. Really- no offense intended. You have to expect people to question such statements.

August could mean August 31st.

Personally, I did not see enough changes in LCI 14 to make me regret I am getting MY13. There are no technology toys that I will be missing, and I will save myself the My14 price increase.
