Recall
I'm not sure if this has been posted in another area, but I just read this and wanted to send out a heads up. It doesn't seem like it is all that common of a problem but certainly something that needs be fixed.

Yeah, I heard about this just as I was about to schedule my annual service. I've decided to wait until the dealers get the parts and have the recall done at the same time since my dealer is 50 miles away. Anyone know when the dealers are supposed to get the parts?

My dealer called and said they have the parts and tools to perform the recall on my Z. It goes in next week.

I went to BMW dealership last week in WA for regular checked up. I didn't receved any recall notice before I go. they told me about the recall for my z4 and asked me if I'd like to do it that day, so I spent total about 4 hrs in BMW dealership and have the battery cable replaced.

4 hours at the dealership. If you stayed there that long I hope you got a few test drives in. The last time I hung around the dealership that long I ended up trading in my previous 3 series that had only 24K miles on it for my current Z.

Recall Performed
I received the recall letter in the mail and had the recall performed last week. They ended up keeping the car for 2.5 days due to a traction-control-related sensor needing to be replaced (the warning light kept coming on while the car was in reverse).

Received my recall. The job was completed last week at Premier BMW of Cape Cod, my local dealer.
However with the repair I got 2 scratches on my car and a ruined set of rear 293 wheels. Here is the story. My car was mint clean. The kids who the dealer hires to wash the cars decided to wash my car anyways, even mint clean like my car was. I saw them Using big brushes on other cars for washing and then for drying they were using bladed squeegees. I now know how they scratched my car and I assuming all cars. I guess the average BMW driver doesn't care. Rear 293 wheels. I just had the wheels off the car and polished them super clean with wheel polish. I took lots of pictures (luckily) of how nice they looked. I picked up the car to find the scratches and tell the service manager who agrees to fix them. I get the car home and notice that both rear wheels, not the front for what ever reason, have the clear coat look like shattered and wrinkled glass. I take the car back to the service manager and he cannot explain it BUT agrees to replace the 2 wheel under warranty. Fast Forward 2 weeks. I get my new wheels installed. I inspect them right at the dealer and the technicians (hacks) who installed them chipped 1 wheel so bad, that i would not accept it. Immediately Back to the service manager, who inspects it and again agrees to replace the brand new wheel, now chipped wheel, with another new one. I will post if I finally get this corrected. What a recall
