Deeply tragic.

How can two lives go so right, and so wrong?

I didn't read the posted article because I've read enough, and saw on TV a few times, to form an [uninformed] opinion....

Guilty. He shot her in anger.

He has a history of domestic problems where the police was called. He has a history of yelling and shouting arguments heard by neighbors from his house. He has a history of loud arguments with this gf.

At first he/they said nothing at all. THAT is what a lawyer will tell you to do after you've shot someone and called your lawyer. "Say nothing to the police. Don't say a word. Wait for me".

Then they said she sneaked in to surprise him for Valentine day, and he shot her thinking she was an intruder. 4 times??? It doesn't take that long to recognize your own gf.

Then they said he didn't do it. Again this stinks as a lawyer's coaching. "Deny it, and then we'll fight it, there were no witnesses, we'll take our chances at court, etc..."

They had a fight and he shot her. Probably she had enough of the fighting and arguing and broke up with him. He did what possessive bf do, and killed her.

How do you shoot the wrong person 4 times? Sure if you know that you have family in the house you would ask "Honey, where are you? Or Honey, is that you in the bathroom?".

With the amount of money he makes one would wonder though why he would kill his girlfriend when he could just simply get a new one if they did not get along well. Most likely like you said which is a possessive boyfriend.

He's half crazy IMO. Shooting a gf has confirmed that. He probably have anger issues due to his handicaps. Although he smiled a lot during the Games, he probably pissed because he didn't win anything despite whatever....sound more he is a control freak. If he cannot have her, nobody can.

But thank God he was prepared to protect himself with deadly force. No doubt he's glad he had the guns in the house. You never know what might happen.

I heard yesterday (TV) that he shot her through the closed bathroom door. Also that someone heard 3 shots, scream, and then 3 more shots.

(CBS) It sounds simple enough: before you decide to whip up the next inspirational sports legend to sell to the world, check to see if he’s already spent time in jail.

Far from the strictest level of due diligence, it’s merely something that should be considered before making him a Summer Olympics poster boy or the heroic focal point of an international ad campaign. Find out if there might be some potential downside in being involved with this person, or at the very least some reason to act responsibly in painting a more complicated, truthful picture of him for your audience.

Amid all the grisly details emerging in the story of Oscar Pistorius being charged with the murder of his girlfriend, what should make us angry is what was already known, or should have been. It appears actual facts were ignored, because they would have interfered with the made-for-TV story during the coverage of the 2012 London games.

The average consumer is allowed to be shocked by the news. Producers and executives at NBC and officials at Nike, however, are not.

In 2009, Pistorius was arrested and jailed for 24 hours for allegedly assaulting a 19-year-old woman at a party at his house. She eventually chose not to pursue charges.

Also that year, Pistorius wrecked his speedboat in a violent crash that also broke his nose, jaw, eye socket and several ribs. Witnesses said he was drinking before the accident, and alcohol was found on the boat by police, who conveniently did not administer a test for blood-alcohol level.
Not an angel.

Bloody Bat Found at Pistorius’s Home
A bloodied cricket bat was found at Oscar Pistorius’s home, with South African media reporting on Sunday that the Olympic athlete may have used it to attack girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp before shooting her to death. According to South Africa’s City Press, police believe Pistorius may have used the bat to break down the bathroom door where Steenkamp was hiding or that she used it to defend herself from Pistorius. Steenkamp reportedly suffered from a fractured skull in addition to the bullet wounds to the head, arm, hand and hip. Although Pistorius’s family has insisted he mistakenly thought Steenkamp was an intruder, a source told the City Press that “it was clear that both of them slept in the bed.”

Win the blood on the cricket bat. He couldn't have not seen what he was hitting as well and if the neighbors heard the screaming he surely must have as well.

More "geez".

She slept there at night.
She slept together with him in his bed.
She was wearing her nightgown.
He shot her first in the bedroom. Once.
She ran into the bathroom to hide, he shot her there 3 more times.

He killed a hooker before

http://www.theonion.com/articles/osc...rom-dif,31341/

Honest to God, I never used that bat on Reeva—you have to believe me,” the double amputee said of the blood-soaked wooden paddle, claiming he had only ever used it in the 2011 slaying of a Johannesburg prostitute and “a handful” of cricket matches. “Seriously, I haven’t even seen that thing since I killed a hooker with it. To be honest, I forgot I still had it lying around.” According to sources, Pistorius went on to claim that Steenkamp’s skull was already caved in before he shot her four times.

Both are true. He was born with a condition I read described as the congenital absence of the fibula in both legs, and his legs were amputated below the knee before his first birthday.

Guilty or not, this is a godsend for news organizations that thrive on people news, like NBC Today or Good Morning America.
