Question '03 Z4 3.0i engine whine (with audio)

Hi guys,

Hope someone here might be able to tell me what the hell the noise I started hearing 3 days ago is. I haven't been able to get a 'good' audio recording of it before, but finally managed something last night and this morning.

As mentioned, the whine/noise started about 3 days ago, and seems to go up in pitch when RPM increases. It's mostly at 1000 rpm and above when I hear it, although I heard the noise this morning too while idling. As far as I can tell, it's a constant noise, besides disappearing below 1000 rpm. Engine performance has not decreased at all far as I can tell.

Here's a link to the audio.

First piece of the audio is the whine only being present when at higher (1000>) RPMs, the other is the whining noise when idling (rare). It's coming from the front of the engine bay, close to the belts, and increases in pitch with increasing RPM. Any ideas on what it might be?

Some extra info that might be interesting: I replaced the belts around +/- 4 months ago, along with a new mechanical belt pulley. Engine has run around 78000 miles. Temperature around here has been anywhere from low 40s (5/6 C) to high 80s (28/30 C)

I forgot to mention that your serpentine belt could also be bad.
