Mein Auto: 2012 M650 Gran Coupe
DriveTrain Malfunction

Hi,

Am new here. Just bought myself a M650 Gran Coupe November 2012 and love the car. Today, however, I received a message to top up my engine oil so on the way to the BMW service center, at the stop light I revved the engine and suddenly appeared 'Drivetrain Malfunction, maximum power not available, drive to the nearest BMW service center'.

The engine was sputtering all the way to the BMW center. Was fortunate that the center was close to my villa. The Service Center professional shall be looking at the car and will update me tomorrow.

The car has only 2000 kms - still new. I wonder if anyone had the same experience and wonder if it is anything major?

Thanks.

I've had the same problem. I went through the other thread on this issue, and I noticed there seems to be a multitude of causes. The first time my two month old 650 Gran Coupe had the infamous drive train malfunction, the car was in the shop for over a month waiting on a fuel injector sensor from Germany. Now it's in the shop for the second time, and this time around it's a high pressure fuel pump, another problem part for BMW according to many posts. Once again, a 2 plus week wait already, and now the part from Germany is supposed to be shipped today. So far, this car, while gorgeous with great performance when it runs, has been extremely disappointing. I'm beginning to question my pruchase.

Seems like the HPFP issue that plagued BMW's car in the past? So, the issue have not really been resolved? I would be sick to my stomach were I to suffer what you have.

Mein Auto: 2013 650 Gran Coupe
Hi all,

I have read posts in the past on this forum but I finally decided to create an account. I'm particularly interested in the "drivetrain Malfunction" issue with the 650 GC. I recently experienced that and Winslow BMW in Colorado Springs ended up replacing five of the six injectors. Prior to that problem, they had to replace both oil pans and that problem occurred before I even had 10K miles on the car.

I asked BMW to purchased the car back from me--after the oil pan problem) but they played me around for weeks until the car was fixed and they told me to come pick it up and they would not repurchase it. They gave me back one month lease payments for my troubles and sent me packing. Now I'm dealing with the second problem which is the Drivetrain issue. although that's been fixed as well, am I crazy to think this car is a lemon and they should buy it back?

Doesn't anyone share my issues with this car and is there light at the end of this Bavarian tunnel?

See my post from July about this problem. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=786005

I have had the problem twice, the first time it was in the shop for a week in Atlanta and three injectors and three spark plugs and the oil changed. That time the car had to be towed to the dealership in Atlanta. The second time it happened, we were at home here in Iowa but the problem went away after restarting the car after a few minutes. I drove it to the dealership and they had the car for 8 days. Long story short, there is a service bulletin on this issue that seems to have cured the issue. Time will tell.

Contact an attorney to pursue a claim under Colorado's Lemon Law (http://www.colorado.gov/cs/Satellite.../1214213334119)

The attorney's fees should be paid by BMW so you shouldn't have any out of pocket expenses. Find a local attorney and go from there.

I have been adding to my thread about my issues with my car. I had another occurance last week and the dealer/BMW Engineers have had my car now for ten days with no end in sight. If the car already isn't in Chicago, it will be on Monday and Tuesday as there will be factory engineers there then. If I don't know more by the end of next week I will be getting a lawyer to handle it.
