Strange driver side headlight malfunction

Again, I really appreciate the forum and everyone here. Every time I get a lot of help and instructions.

The driver side headlight won't turn on. The "bulb" malfunction light is on. I was trying to turn on the fog light and it won't on either. Basically all the lights (headlight, yellow light and fog light) on the front of the driver side won't on. The lights on the side of the car and on the back are all ok. Then I opened the hood. I found the brown wires the connected to the car body is broken(even though I don't know if that is the reason cause the lights malfunction).

I am very curious is how could the copper wire broken??! I can understand the plastic cover may fail because of aging. However there wasn't much stress/ware that can cause the copper wire broke.

Thanks advance for any comments.
