The headlight washers on come on when the headlights are on... Soo if you don't want the headlights washed make sure your headlights are turned off... Turn off of auto... Your lights are on more then you think...

Put your finger near the keyhole on your drivers door handle. The doors should lock immediately. If you leave your finger there, the windows and sunroof will close. This assumes you have comfort access.

Yes, I meant the door handle outside. The same procedure as locking the door with comfort access but you just leave your finger there a little longer to start the windows.

I'm pretty sure it works the same as described with the clutch. Happens to me by "accident" every once in a while and I never remember to try it on purpose. Sometimes I get in, push the button - nothing happens - then it starts. I think it starts after I press the brake pedal.

I DO have an oil dipstick. This is after 3 years of reading that on the earliest models had one. I was replacing my enigne air filter and saw something coming from the back of the engine bay and started pulling on it because it looked like a dipstick and it was!! BTW my car is an 06 550, so maybe they removed it in 07 and later models.

Yeah, someone mentioned this in another thread, i wish the I-6 had a secret dipstick.

Are you sure that isn't the transmission dipstick? Redd fluid on it?

I know (at least on mine) that there isn't a transmission dip stick.

I hope to god they added one--it's a royal pain trying to check transmission fluid level without one (i.e. engine on, under the car, taking bolts out to see if oil drains out or not..)

If you have the four way flashers on and you activate the left turn signal, the right side flasher turns off and vice versa.

This is awesome during a caravan. It lets the other bimmer drivers know your intentions (lane changes) without having to deactivate the hazards momentarily by hand.

I just noticed the driver side make up mirror and how the ceiling light just above it is activated when you slide open the mirror cover.

How bout this one guys,,,, when ur driving along loving your car... Then out of nowhere that dreadfull sound.... the chime goes "DING !! " Idrive says MALFUNCTION !! .... makes ur heart drop and ur like.. OH **** !! What the HELL ! .. and can practically feel ur wallet open up ... lol!....

I found out you could reset the State Inspection and the Emission Inspection service indicators in the iDrive menus.

Went to use navigation in my '05 545i and the street address was too new to come up. So, I put the address in my iPhone using Google Maps. To my surprise, all of the voice directions from Google Maps on my phone came through the car's speakers! I tried it with Apple's Map app and the Mapquest app and neither of them utilize the Bluetooth connectivity to provide turn-by-turn directions through the car itself.

Good one! Also, whatever entertainment is running, fades out and in to allow the voice instructions to be heard.
Actually, it happened to me last week unexpectedly ( but one time only) while using the Apple app, and took me fully by surprise. I tried to duplicate it, but it never happened again. Did not try any of the other nav apps on my iPhone.
Should work great with the map showing on the iDrive screen. Will try that later.

Re bluetooth map voice, I found out the Google Maps will work, but not Apple or Waze. I actually find it a little annoying, because Google keeps cutting into my music. In my old G35 with Nav, the music would be turned down while she told me where to go. In my 550 with no Nav, Google just interrupts the music! Is there a way to turn off the bluetooth map voice?

Same thing happened with me! I was pleasantly surprised.

If it ever stops doing it (happens to me if I force the phone to use the built in speaker/mic sometimes), you need to hold the home button to get siri to pop up, then change the output source via the button to the right side of the screen to switch it back to using bluetooth/your car speakers.
