Depending on where you live.. both Cayenne and X5 are a dime a dozen... So no matter if you spent 60K or 100K+ to those people you will get the same attention

So you should see three times as many X5s on the road as Cayennes.

Yes, but as I mentioned earlier it depends on where you live..

Here in NYC area... Cayennes are everywhere... X5's are everywhere... I see both of these countless times just about everyday. When I drive my 2013 X5 its not a big deal.. these cars are almost as common as Honda civics on the road

"Aston loved hearing that" -- so did Ford! Actually Henry has been putting out some good looking iron (with one or two exceptions) recently. The Fusion in black is a killer car IMHO and the new Explorer is vastly improved over the old two box version. As to the topic at hand -- here in the valley the X5's are all over the place -- with ML's and Q5 & 7's close behind and Cayenne's not so much. The one that is really hard to find is the T-egg. Hardly ever see one, and the new version looks good. What we do have a lot of here are Fiskers and Teslas. I even see Tesla's on the road to Tahoe -- don't know if I would take a chance with electrics that far from home though.

Ironically, a few moments ago, my friend who was at the hospital in Manhattan just texted me that his taxi that he called for was a 2011 X5

I will add the new X3 is also rising in the rank in the valley. X3 out numbers Q5 but significantly fewer than X5 or ML from where I drive.

Well. We have a lot of Chinese friends. So I'm sad to say half the reason was for the "face." Celebrities will pick what's good right? So your wife's purchasing decision is based on the best, no need to stop her.

But it has turned out pretty good. The car is really a lot better than the X5 though it's not really at the same price points. Drivability is stellar as is comfort and overall luxury. But I do miss my X5. We also have a home in China, so it has come to the point where we might get the incoming '14 X5 (though the new RRS is being considered too); the issue of course is the ridiculous taxes and premiums we have to pay for any imported luxury vehicle.

Since this thread is about Cayennes, I'd can say it's definitely better than those too (though this might be an unfair comparison as our Cayenne is an '04 model).
