Question 2006 BMW 750i Navigation Question (And A Couple Side Questions)

Hello, new to the forum. I recently totaled out my 2010 Camaro SS and bought a 2006 750i. Its my first car ever that wasnt a Sports/Muscle car. LOL.

I love the car but noticed that a few things were out of date. I noticed that it didnt have an iPod hook up so I purchased Dension Gateway 500 (GW51MO2) that would allow me to have full control over my iPod while seeing it come up on my navigation screen.

My next thing i see is that the actual navigation screen just looks outdated. Is there anyway to upgrade the actual navigation unit or pop in a firmware DVD that will change the look of the actual display? It just looks like the first ever navigation image ever made. LOL. and for some reason (maybe its a setting) but the navigation screen is sooooo far away. is there any way to get actual street views that you're passing? The view I have I can only see major freeways which are MILES apart so Im not truly navigating anywhere. I would like to see actual streets that im passing, etc.

Sorry for the questions but Im just confused as to the steps I need to take.

Side Questions:

How can i see how many miles I have on the car? LOL

What are the 2 chrome buttons on the top of the steering wheel for?

There is a button on the steering wheel that says D-S-M I believe. What exactly does this do?

I know the answer would be to read the manual but the one I have got wet and most of the pages are sticking together and rip when i try to separate them. Thanks for any info.

You cannot change the general look but you can upgrade the Nav disk. If you want to zoom in on the map once you are in the navigation screen turn the idrive knob to the right until you are zoomed in as far as you want.My next thing i see is that the actual navigation screen just looks outdated. Side Questions:

How can i see how many miles I have on the car? LOL. On the stalk left of the steering wheel there are two buttons at the end that changes what is displayed in the lower display of the instrument cluster. You can press the bottom one until the odometer reading is displayed in the right bottom display window.

What are the 2 chrome buttons on the top of the steering wheel for? there are two buttons on the front and the back of the steering wheel. When you put the car in manual mode...which is what the D-S-M is for you use the back buttons on the steering wheel to upshift and the front ones to downshift.

There is a button on the steering wheel that says D-S-M I believe. What exactly does this do? Changes the car between Regular Drive Mode, Sportsmode and Manual ModeI know the answer would be to read the manual but the one I have got wet and most of the pages are sticking together and rip when i try to separate them.
