Funny you say this, just took my wife's car in on Saturday for service.
The SA tells me, maybe by Wednesday because we are full! looks like the whole state of PA decided to come in this weekend and laughing he says "most of them are for low tire pressure due to the weather "

Is it possible that this guy was not tech savvy and had no clue what to do when his tire pressure monitor system went off.. and was nervous that his $50K+ was going to explode? hehe.

Some people mostly the older ones don't understand the technology.

And the beauty of TPMS individual sensors here is that you don't have to check all 4 tires... just the one that is going on off.. But yes I usually check my tire pressure or inspect my tire once a month..

You guys have it all wrong. The E70 has a separate sensor in each wheel. Always has, always will. Each sensor sends an individual signal to the receiver.

BMW changed design / vendors of the sensor in mid 2011. AFAIK they have not changed back to the old sensor.

What HAS changed is the software. My late 2011 used to tell me which specific tire was low (I.e. I would get one yellow tire on the iDrive.). Somewhere in one of the half dozen recalls / reprogammings, the software changed so it now shows all yellow. The same software is on our F10.

If I had to guess, I'd say lawyers were involved.

It sounds like they restored the functionality on the 2013's. For everyone else, it all depends on which software updates you have had.

I agree that the sensors changed but it was mid '10 wasn't it? The running engineering change was mid'11 as discussed in a thread of mine complaining last spring.

I'll check my software tonight and report back, as I just had reprogramming done last month.

1) We all agree that each tire has its own unique TPM sensor.

2) We also agree that the late`10 production model til dec12 only showed the system detected a tire was low on psi, but did not specifically highlight which individual tire that was. In addition their TPM sensors are incompatible with the launch till late 10 X5s.
(unlike the f10 or any F series that can
a) show each individual tire psi and temp w/coding or comes standard with newer firmwares
b) some pre 12 models can only highlight the individual wheel & cannot be coded for psi or temp )

3) We also agree that each tire had the ability to show individual tire warnings with the launch x5 to pre-late 10 engineering change.

4) Software updates seem to be ineffective in bringing the new function that new `13s have (well at least not yet). No coding can also bring it too

Nope. You are wrong. My 2011 USED TO show the specific tire that was low, but a software update "fixed" that.

2011 X5d 4/11 build and it shows which tire has low pressure.

I recently learned you can get individual tire pressures via "BMW coding".

My March 2011 Build shows the same exact information, does his show the actual PSI in each tire ???

not psi, only which wheel is low. I question whose in charge of making the decisions at the E70 software department caz it just seems stupid to throw out many different versions of tpms.
