That Is NICE... The car trailer reminds me of when I went to Philly to rescue my car. Once I drove it up the ramp, I had to climb out of the window to get out of the car LOL...

i have often thought about an E24 project, but i assume they are just as heavy as E34s? not as much fun in the twisties, i dont think ill be building a heavy car again

what are your plans for this one?

Hopefully just fix it up. An original Callaway turbo `79 6er? what power was that supposed to make factory?

Maybe you should go callaway/Alpina!

I love the red leather

Manual or auto? That turbo kit must be incredibly rare. Keep us posted!

For me, man, lots of expensive sled carnage lately. I am running on a welded steering post and a borrowed gearcase The new post came yesterday, I am on my knees for the gearcase to show today. My insane boss is going to waste my Saturday... Not a cloud in the sky. It has been snowing for four days. We are talking FEET of the driest Colorado champange powder snow. And he wonders why I have a bad attitude on Saturdays

So... snowsled pics after a ride tomorrow. It will be epic

why are you buying an E90? i want and can afford one, but the price of parts and depreciation, might as well stick with my older BMs

I need a car to daily drive. Something to leave unmodified, reliable, and good. And this car has 3yr/30k mi. warranty and only 49k miles. The same exact car with twice the mileage lists for the same price. So I think ill be fine with depreciation. What would you rather get?

I looked at MkV GTIs, a quattro A4, MINIs...

I have never brought depreciating cars. but then i have never had to go more than 10km to get to work.

But if my job changed and I needed a later model car, Id get an E46 325i compact or an E81 120d. maybe an A4 if the price was right.

I dont know what id buy in the $40k bracket if i had to buy new

1s haven't been here long eniugh to depreciate to my range. We only got the 128 and 135. Maybe I could dig up a 128 (?) But thats no fun. And its somewhat feminine, no masculine hatchbacks here. I can't afford a 135. 335 would be uneccessarily expensive, I get all my speed jollies out in my z. And the FP issues with the turbo cars is annoying and expensive

For $40k youre looking at a nice optioned F30 328 or a base 335. Id get an A3 maybe. Fully loaded vdub, maybe CC?

sorry, $40 is low $30s for you guys. I dont think i could get an F30

must be hard for you guys not having a lot of euro cars, we get almost the full range here. the only companies that limit really are GM and Ford but thats to protect the local market as they are built here.
That said, Chevy Caddilac Dodge Chyrysler do not exist here as the massive SUVs you guys have a way to expensive to run here and most american metal is useless in the corners

Oh no, the sled has displaced the BM in the garage for last minute repairs The new steering post and ski runners go on this morning after coffee. The loaner gearcase should not cause any issues.

The snow on the other hand may be too deep to ride, the road up the mtn may be a disaster but, you can damn sure bet I am going to try

I would buy something bigger if I was in the 15-20k shopping range. I would be shopping w210 E55 Mercs and '04-06 Jag XJR's but, then I am a bigger guy and like some space. If I was feeling frisky maybe an '03-04 Merc S600 with a nearly 500 hp twin turbo V12.

None of which make efficient daylies or have warranty but, they would be really FUN.

As much as I like the newer audis. They have a certain stigma about them.
The most common has been "if you buy an audi. Become friends with a junkyard."
Not that I truely believe that for I owned a b5 a4. But when I go yarding I do see tons of audis. Kind of makes me sad

BTW I found a short sport!!!!!!!

But the price is a little high for the condition.

This^
If bigger is what your looking for I'd even go on a limb and say a w140 s500 coupe.

Or a 83-85 sec (roadhouse style )

I have a thing for those big ol' coupes

Those mercs are freakin beasts. Don't get me wrong I bleed red, blue, and purple but I'd rock an amg in an instant.
Ask Clarkson....although the thought of repair cost would make me think twice.

OMG The snow was freakishly deep. I forgot the camera, and was forced to use the cell phone, which you can see... is not so good.

Couldn't make the parking lot this time, there was about 18" fresh on the road. So I got it turned around and we rode the road.

The trenches were DEEP, Levi was stuck a lot. It was a ton of work but smashing through nearly 4 feet of fresh snow one you got it going was awesome.

This was what we call powder bog, the exhaust and intake are both buried, the sled stops The scoop shovel comes off, the digging begins.

Wish I had better pics. It is dumping snow again

I drove a W140 S600 before my 750iL, I also drove a w126 560 sel on that shopping trip. The 126 feels pretty old. That said if you found one with AMG engine work, maybe a set of their headers it would be a pretty sweet car. The stock 126 is an old mans car, even compared to my stock e34

The 140 just scares me. Most of those fall into the range where wiring harnesses are an issue due to "environmentally friendly" wire coatings. That and all the top end components used in those are crazy expensive. I would feel better with a w220 s-class. I had an '01 S600 (no turbos) and it was a sweet car. I liked it better than the 750, the wife didn't.

Sorry but I am a huge Benz fan

ive only owned one Merc and that was a 190E 2.0L auto so nothing special, but did have a full AMG bodykit for the extra horsepowers. felt half way between my E34 and my E30 to drive, smallish like the E30 but the luxury of the E34.

But the Mercs through the mid 90s to the mid 2000s are plauged with electrical issues, because the shrouding around the wiring is actually made from a soy based product rather than plastic, which has well and truely started to deteriorate now. S classes were the worst, but covered all models. This happened for the same reason the plastic cooling systems in E46s are shocking

Only issue I found with buying a used AMG is usually the PO.
The key with those is to definitely get one unmolested.
For the repair and parts is worst than anything I've ever seen.
(probably = to a e60 out of warranty)

Thats kind of why I like the older ones.
Any owner holding on to a 140 body S500 coupe today is probably a enthusiast.
Or the car is beat to crap.
