E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135. |

Automatic door locks setting not working
I recently purchased a 2011 128i coupe for my wife. The doors locks will not activate or lock after the engine starts nor after sitting idle. I programmed the BC as per owners manual and the display indicates these functions are on. But the door locks will not engage. Any suggestions before I take it to dealership. All other programmable functions are working, i.e. courtesy lights etc.

Thanks for reply. Yeah, I tried driving it after I programmed it. My Honda locks automatically when I reach a certain speed. I think it was working right before I took it to the dealership to have them do the 15k routine service. Is there a way to reset all settings to factory default and start over?

I believe my problem is the key fob. I tried the second fob and the doors lock automatically as described in the manual. So I have to figure out what can be done with the other key fob.

Assuming you have re-programmed the locks with the offending fob and they still don't lock, if you have comfort access, you might try replacing the fob battery (CR32). It's an easy DIY, described in the manual.
Otherwise, a defective fob should be covered under warranty. Tom |

Yeah I have tried reprogramming several times. Everything else seems to work with that key, but I' ll take it to the dealership and let them check it out. Thanks for your replies.
