Bought it... It wasn't super clean, but the price reflected condtion. Seemed to have seen regular use and was well maintained under a BMW CPO warranty (including a recently replaced hydraulic control unit). I am installing a new underpanel (engine shield) and then it's good to go. Sick power, and almost everything you read about the single clutch SMG is true. Takes time to get used to driving a normal pace, but it's not bad. Full tilt M mode more than makes up for it. It's performance is shocking after getting out of my E36 M3 a few months ago. Supercar for $34K... not bad in my book.

2007? Wow thats great deal. Sometimes the M power keep pushing me to trade in my 6 and get an M instead. Haha. Congratulation man.

Has 60338 miles now. I'm enjoying getting to know it and feel lucky to be able to own one (at least until the first big repair bill hits!). I am digging into the car more and it was definitely used, but well maintained (mechanically at least). Surprising what you find as you dig around in a used car... I'll post some pics when I get a chance. Haven't had a chance to take some shots yet. I'm on Bimmerforum and M5Board too (same user name).

You might find more traffic at M5Board.com. Lots of general stuff in the E60 M5 section, and of course the E63/64 M6 section.

Here's the pics I promised...Sorry they aren't too good (cloudy day, dirty car, bad camera on low res, etc....) but I wanted to post up some shots of the new M in my life. Last year, I sold my '98 M3 cabrio that I converted from an auto to a 6-speed manual (thanks to bimmerforums!) and after considering other options, I knew that a M6 was the only way for me to move forward (and sideways). She's a 11/2006 build, just out of a CPO warranty and was mechanically well maintained with records. Cosmetically, she's a little worn here and there, but nothing unfixable with a little effort and cash. BMW replaced the SMG pump at 60K, so that issue should be ok for a while... I put a couple pics of the first repair part I purchased too. The original underpanel is mostly missing. Only other item to address now is a squeaky idler pulley (seems to be a common BMW issue, my M3 had the same failure). I'm looking forward to sharing info with you all (hopefully not about all the repairs I'm doing...). Best Regards.

Find the offending pulley and replace it. I use a length of garden hose or tubing (as a stethoscope) to locate the bad pulley. Just be careful poking around with the moving fan and belts! You can take the pulley off and try to grease the bearing to get some more time on it if it isn't worn, but it usually isn't worth the time. Just replace it and be done.

I posted a DIY on M5Board for the idler pulley replacement. It's in the M6 section, search for "DIY Pulley" should get it...
