See, I mixed that up. I was initially under the impression that that was the same member who ordered the 4-zone A/C, too. And when I looked at the dash on your pictures in this post, I thought to myself "well, that was somebody else so what's up with the A/C-controls?"..

There are probably many on this forum who know how to properly was a vehicle but I'm not one of them yet
I have already purchased opticoat, waiting for the winter to pass and then have it applied.
As regards its upkeep, when I was in Chicago, there were many hand car wash services nearby, that too pretty cheap ($11 tires included)
there are none in Cleveland but i do have a pretty good automatic car wash service nearby.

just wanted to know if opticoat can survive that. else self car wash is the only option.

Very nice. I'm having my car trucked to a detailer right from the dealer. Going to detailers domain in nj....possibly most well known in the country. Phil is the owner.

I was advised to have dealer remove the white plastic stuff but not to wash or detail car as phil is doing it all. Was told to remove plastic so I can inspect paint that was covered by the plastic to make sure no dings or deep scratches before signing for car which you can't do while plastic is still on.

For anyone who has never had new car prep paint correction and opti coat applied its amazing the outcome.

And on the M5 and on the 535 and 550 in Canada and...

...you get the idea. That's why I dug around a bit after being rejected by the regional rep who said it was "not possible."
Well that is one sweet car cordoor, beautiful.
I've ordered mine black Nappa perforated seats, anthracite wood trim and the Nappa leather dash - outside of course will be the M Performance exhaust.

Last night's update from Greg:

I got the car washed, and polished today and the xdrive badge taken off. Will clean the paint tomorrow and coat the paint, hope to pull the wheels and get them done too.

You will see in some photos areas on the paint that were pretty beat up, but I worked them and improved them a lot. the rest of the car wasn't bad at all, I would say 95% of the car is perfect.

Wow what the heck is with all those scratches? I am confused. I know it was in a bad storm while in transport but its a brand new car untouched from factory right? Can't understand the deal with all those scratches.

Great car! 4 Zone was something I wanted, wish I was more tenacious about special ordering it. I noticed you also got Active Cruise Control. Please let us know how you like that feature.

I dunno either. I think it is a close up of the very bottom end of a door. I'll ask.

I had it on my E60 and loved it. But the E60 had that sweet lever for managing cruise control while the F10 put buttons in the steering wheel (not as good) so we shall see.

Here is information from Greg (the detailer):

the drivers side back door had a huge area, the rear drivers side lower bumper was BAD, it got 90% of them out, but you can only polish out so much before you remove an unsafe amount of clear. I left plenty of clear and got 90%, so I'm happy.

How they got there, it appears that the rear door might have been not properly polished at BMW or someone rub against it. The rear bumper were deep ones like a very rough object was rubbing against the paint, they were straight line scratches. I don't think any of them came from the transportation of the car to me, likely from the factory or the overseas shipment.

In the photos you can see befores and afters of the areas in questions

Yeaqh - it came standard in my last X5 so I really wanted it for this new car; had to add it as an option but don't regret it.

She's done! But it turns out I contracted strep throat! So I doubt I'll be able to pick her up this afternoon. Am I ever going to actually get my hands on her?

Here are a few pics of the final product and one of Greg working on it:

Looks sick, Cordoor! Man I'm kinda jealous that I didn't go Opticoat this time around again, but the guy who did my car used some great Sealant anyway, and the quotes I got for Opticoat installation were quite a bit more than what I spent, so I guess it's a give and take.

Congrats!

Thanks Codoor for allowing me to help dial in your dream. Reflections Detailing of Utah was honored that you trusted me and I hope I kept that trust.

I'll post up some more photos of the work later I will likely turn it into an short article for my blog.

If you don't mind me being frank? I would not have liked the color combo with the regular gray headliner.

The OP's Venetian Beige interior, without the anthracite headliner, would not have come with a gray headliner. Gray is used as the standard headliner color for black, gray and cinnamon interior colors. Oyster and beige interiors use the same oyster headliner.

What did this run you dollar wise out in Utah, looking to get my 2012 550 done, first they are going to clean and do some paint correction then apply opticoat. My car is not brand new so may need a little more paint correction.
